..but didn't make a sequel contract because they didn't know how the first would come off in theaters. Plus, they didn't want to take too much of a risk - at the time, Knightley and Bloom were relatively unknown actors, and Depp, although GENIUS, had never really had a major blockbuster... Rush was the only certainty.
It was a good strategy - now that the first has done well, the actors will WANT to come back, instead of just being contractually obligated to...
Bloom - LOTR. I think it says it all.
Johnny Depp is pretty well known.
Plus studios these days make 2 movie contracts all the time. X-men had a 2 movie contract with half of unnone actors that played major parts.
Well, they're definatly doing a POC2, twas announced in a magazine that I get at home and I know that Depp is surely signed on for it. Troy is done, or near to done being filmed because Brad Pitt came home the other day. If Bloom has a movie line-up it shouldn't be a long one because he's most likely to sign on for that. POC2 won't come out until 2005 most likely because of their schedules and whatnot... so yha. I think that a sequel would do really well because of how famous the first one was. I mean, you could destory the story, but it would be kind of hard. The writer even said that there are more stories that he would like to tell about Sparrow as well. Enough of my ranting... what about your thoughts?
I do not believe that Pirates 2 will be as good. Not that I don't want them to make one, because I do...and I think it could be quite good.
The reason I just don't think it can be as good is when I think of how to make Pirates 1 better...I draw a blank. So I guess they might be able to make one AS good, but that would be quite an accomplishment in itself too.
im curious what the story woul dbe about. i mean @ the end of pirates 1 (ive seen it 8 times) it wasnt screaming SEQUAL but it hinted @ a possibility of one, but i really can't think of a way to continue that story w/out making it cheesy, unless they have the same characters w/a completely different plot, whichis still risky. i must say, even tho i loved the 1st one, im a bit skeptical of how the swqual, and the third as well, will be
