Nothing! I couldn’t possilbly choose a part of these beautiful pieces of literature to change...Nor is it my place to want to change the magnificance at all, but I will try and think of something, for the sake of all you people who have nothing better to do than read these posts 😛
First of all, Get rid of Chris Tolkiens pesky and irritating commentary (allright, its not really taht bad, and kind of interesting at that, but still, Its bothersome.) - yesh, I know thats not technically Tolkien’s words, but still, it is somewhat realted and it still irritates me!
Another thing that I would like to change, is to add more of the beautiful languages he created. I mean, there are 7 complete Middle Earthen languages, and yet, we only have a few snatches of them here and there in the books. I know that it would be somewhat awkward to have other languages constantly throughout the books, but as I am a lover of other languages, I think it would be fascinating...
I have always disliked Frodo as a character..I mean, obviously he is kinda central to the plot, and there could be no story without him, I just wish he wasn’t so annoying or irritating. Generally, you are supposed to be able to understand and relate with the main character in a book, but I find myself passionately hating Frodo instead. Maybe its just me, but I would change some of Frodo’s characterization to make him more likable or just less irritating.
I also think that it would have been nice for him to write more that takes place after “The Lord of the Rings” and gone on and on so Middle Earth could never ever end 😛 I guess that secretly is the wish of all the fans; That we could continue reading about the adventure of these characters, and creatures, and the beautiful world Tolkien has created forever, and always have something new happen. But in a way, we can. We can read the books he has written over and over, and in that continue to find new meaning and happiness. As we grow and change so will all of the things we have come to love passionately. Ever changing and adapting to suit our state of mind in a particular point in our lives.
Wow! I have written a lot...I don’t think I’ve ever written a reply to anything that was that long: I feel like Shadowy 😛 😂 I guess that’s what comes from being on a week and a ½ holiday w/o anything to do... I wonder if anyone has actually read all of this?
