Well...it is something that burns hotter than the sun..Loosing to it as it burns him alive wouldn't really be weak. Surviving it would be a really big feat for the Narutoverse. Course he could probably dodge it or block it with another attack or something. But if it doesn't kill him but hits him that's gonna be impressive.

Madara and 1st Hokage both have abilities that supress the demons though..So that's a bit different than beating them through sheer power. As for the Sasuke thing in Naruto's head...Naruto was already supressing him. Sasuke just helped out something that was already happening.
Gaara wasn't using his demon. He was also outsmarted, and doesn't have the instant healing Naruto does.
The rest...yea they sucked big time even if Akatsuki are suppose to be some of the strongest people in the Narutoverse. Still the 8-tails loosing to Amaterasu wouldn't really be jobbing. It would be one of those Sasuke PIS things though that always happens.
But look at Naruto..He's got a demon that laid waste to all of Konoha and he's one of the weakest people. So just because somebody has ultimate power inside doesn't mean they can use it to their full extent. Another example would be Gohan..though it's a different series Gohan does have some serious power but he can't use it to it's fullest unless he's angry because he can't tap into it normally.
Sasuke suppressed it the same way Madara controlled it, Sharingan.
Gaara used several Shukaku tails and limbs in that fight with ease, you have to remember, Gaara uses his demon as part of his fighting style, he has more control over his demonic powers than Naruto.
Dude, who in Akatsuki is really THAT strong? Deidara is a one trick pony who sucks at everything else, Hidan is a slow ass fvcking moron who was beaten by Shikamaru through expert planning and shit, Kakuzu did nothing really except turn into a bunch of threads and ensnare a surprised team of Chunin(who were nuthin special) and Kakashi but was then pwned by Naruto, Konan...Can turn into paper, and Jiraiya easily restrained her, Zetsu hasn't done shit to make me think he is impressive yet.
So far the only truly powerful members are Sasori, Itachi, Madara(probably anyway), Pein, and Kisame, 2 of which are dead.
Yet these Godlike beings are easily subdued by them.
Shukaku was hyped up to the point that it was believed if Gaara transformed victory would be certain for the Sand Village...Then he lost to Naruto and a giant frog who is a Yakuza wannabe. Then he lost to Deidara. Wow. I'm actually inclined to believe that a group of powerful characters like Kakashi, Gai, and Jiraiya(Jiraiya would of soloed actually) would beat Shukaku.
Naruto isn't one of the weakest people anymore. He's one of the strongest now IMO, stronger than most of the original classmates he had now, by feats anyway. Now he can even lift a friggin giant stone statue.
Gaara didn't transform though like he did against Sasuke when he was fighting Deidara. So Gaara could have gotten stronger but he wouldn't have the defense. And Shukaku was beating Gamabunta and Naruto..until Gaara was woken up. Summoning Shukaku though seemed to drain all of Gaara's chakra..for some strange reason also. But hey..Gaara could still stand..Naruto couldn't. Albeit Gaara needed a little help but that's better shape than Naruto was after that fight. Besides any of the Jonin could have beaten Gaara anyway if he didn't unleash Shukaku.
Shikamaru has always taken it to much stronger opponents with less time to plan. He had days at the least to plan Hidan's defeat. And all of the Akatsuki are suppose to be S-class criminals..Which means they all have to be more powerful than your average Jonin maybe not exactly Hokage level so I guess saying some of the strongest but still..the strongest people in the series have been part of the team mostly. But like I said the demons have sucked. But still having ultimate power inside you doesn't really mean you can use it to it's full potential. Naruto is a perfect example of it.
Naruto can only lift it by using the new special chakra though he can't do it with his own. Tsunade could lift that thing also by amping herself. Sakura also. And still that's only physical strength. Naruto has a whole lot of power inside him, and he's getting more..But he can't use it properly. Which is his real problem and why he's weak.

Also, even though Hidan was slow, he could still keep Asuma on the defensive, Asuma who is faster than Shika and is a better Taijutsu specialist. All of Akatsuki are supposed to be S Class sure...But they lose in gay pathetic ways. Kakuzu was essentially one shotted by Naruto. Deidara the sack of shit he is has had his arms blown off and in a suicidal move failed to kill Sasuke...When Sasuke hid in a snake. 😐 Sasori was killed by a Chunin with only one exceptional combat ability(strength) and an old hag who was also a puppetmaster only much weaker than Sasori. We all know the BS behind Itachi's death. And dude, if you can unleash your demon's true form...Then you can use its true potential. 😐

I meant the meaningful Jonins..Like Kakashi and Gai. Ya know the ones that aren't fodder. Pre-Time Skip Gaara anyway...Kazekage Gaara would probably beat them. After all Gai easily stopped Gaara's sand with no problem. Also the demon hosts can run out of chakra..Naruto has a lot of times when training to do Rasengan.
Asuma also wasn't really shown to be that great. Every time somebody is doing something he's off somewhere else. Him and Kurenai are pretty much expendable Jonin just like most others. Also as for Shikamaru he's always proved power isn't everything. And this time he didn't have to think of something on the fly he had it all setup before even fighting. He'd also gotten stronger and a lot more focused when it came to fighting instead of not caring after the Sasuke Retrieval arc.
It's Sasuke...loosing to Sasuke is no way to gauge somebodies strength. He does the impossible because he's the star of the manga. Doesn't help Deidara couldn't use any attacks on him because he could neutralize them all.
Who has unleashed its true form besides the 8-tails and Gaara? Everybody else gets the same cloak..Or well at least the Cat, Naruto, and the 8-tails have but the cat never unleashed the demon itself. Naruto with three-tails isn't even able to unleash power close to Hokage level. And if the tailed-state was as powerful as the actual demon I doubt the 8-tails would be transforming right now.
Lifting something in Naruto has never really been a winning strategy, and Naruto can't use his attack that beat Kakuzu unless he wants to never become Hokage. That still doesn't make him strong. He's slow for the most part, stupid for the most part, and can't use his chakra right for the most part. If he could get just one of those things down he would be incredible but he hasn't yet. That's why his tailed-state is so good he's actually fast he doesn't need to have as much skill.
