Could be like a jinjuriki situation, melded minds. Like its Obito with Izuna taking over.
FA showed the scans of Tobi's "I'm Obito!" hints, saying things that only Kakashi and Obito could know about. The same thing he did when talking to Sasuke about his(?) past, giving personal details that only Madara and Izuna could know about. It would also explain why Izuna, who equaled Madara before the eye transfer, wasn't summoned with Edo Tensei. Kimimaro and Itachi are no longer sick, Itachi and Nagato are no longer disabled (blind and crippled) and have their eyes back in their sockets. Izuna should have been brought back with his eyes intact.
Well, not having Izuna DNA would make a perfect excuse not to bring him using Edo Tensei, it's not as if they brought every character out there. Also, why did they pulled that soul-melding out of their butts if Madara had the Rinnegan and could resurrect his brother using the resurrecting jutsu? Why not use Nagato's eyes to do it either after properly killing Tobi? Why to use such a weak_ss Uchina as a vessel?
I try to give this a bit more credit, but many plot points seem rather thrown aside to make it happen. The one interesting point I can think of would be to use Sasuke as a future vessel for Izuna, but even that sounds like a cop out because there was no need to pick up such a weakling as a vessel to begin with. Maybe they needed a weak Uchina to pull that off, that may make sense.
Meh, Orochimaru was able to essence jump into hosts already, I'm only a bit disappointed to have yet another Sharigan hax.
If Rinne Tensei killed the host, I suppose it would make sense for Tobi to make Nagato kill himself to resurrect his brother when everything was done for. That still doesn't explain why Madara didn't killed his oldself to resurrect Izuna at his peak, and then they used Nagato to resurrect Madara. Really, what's the winning bit of throwing Obito into the equation? And why Obito?
That's gonna be the question anyways: why Obito?

That's not Obito it's Izuna. Sharingan gets another upgrade via genjutsu...ish...stuff. It can transfer souls into bodies like ET. Obito may still be somewhere in that brain but Izuna is pretty much it. imtufl
