If Madara dropped a meteor, Obito would have to port away, Madara would be vaped, and they'd lose control of the Ten-Tails.

Yes, he did, but Sasuke suppressed Kurama's chakra after the comparison, and it was then that Kurama got shocked. Based on his phrasing, it could either be that Madara was also capable of this (which neither he nor Tobi have demonstrated, and remember, they both have Mokuton, which is capable of suppressing Bijuu chakra), or that Sasuke was the first Uchiha capable of suppressing Kurama's chakra with just the Sharingan.

Killer Bee has stated that A has indeed stopped the Hachibi.

No. As a necessity, opening the gates is an internal thing. The chakra amp is just that: an amp in chakra. If he opens the gate, he still dies.

What the chakra amp would do, however, is give Gai that 8th gate level of power without having to opening. Just throwing it out there but I think a 4th gate with Naruto's chakra amp would be the equivalent of the 8th gate.

The fatal part of the 8 gates would be the strain it puts on the body. I don't think this'd eliminate that.

Hm, could be wrong, it does have healing properties.

Pretty much. Number 8 =/= Hachibi.

Most other ninja would have to resort to teamwork, sealing, weakness exploitation, or controlling the Bijuu in order to actually stop them, whereas A's dad went toe-to-toe with Gyuuki.
