So we really dont know how tobirama died.
Cuz kakashi nearly escaped with his life against, kakuzu barely escaped from pain but died and came back to life. SO tobirama able to handle two nine tails, id say thats impressive.. I wonder how he would do against pain?

Let's go with chapter 481. Kinkaku Force and Kinkaku are not the same thing.
The former is an elite Kumogakure ninja platoon comprising 20 ninja. The latter is one of two criminals, brothers, from Komogakure.
Kinkaku, at the time of Tobirama's death, was a criminal and outcast of Kumogakure: no way Kinkaku had anything to do with that 20 elite ninja platoon that killed Tobirama.

Past people have some secrets, but if you went down in a big dramatic battle, it's known. Hiruzen likely knew how both went down, and he lasted long enough to tell the tale.

The third Hokage is known by the following titles: the strongest Hokage, The Professor; who have mastered all Jutsu, and the God of Shinobi.
And when he's crippled by age he's still too much for both the second and first Hokage in their prime, managing to blow off a limb of both only to be saved by the regeneration of Edo Tensei.
He then kills them both—through Edo Tensei—and cripples Orochimaru (who he's fighting at the same time mind you) at the cost of his own life.
And now the First is referred to by the title God of Shinobi. What ****ing bullshit is that? Hiruzen is suppose to be the prodigy who has studied under both the first and the second Hokage.
ON top of that, Think about it.. They were repressed by the edo tensei so they werent technically full powered.
By sayind the third is better then the first, then that means the third can beat madara without any struggle. IS this what your insinuating sir?
