The more weight he has, then the more force the Shadow has to withstand as a tether too.
I mean, I guess he could be exerting some force too, but the way it's displayed makes me think it's just clever usage of shadow bind. Both in the fact that Choji's spinning and such, and the angles of the shadows.

This, and the fact that the technique was called a 'Yo-Yo' means that Shikamaru was indeed flinging Chouji around.

Slugs, or at least Katsuyu, can heal people, spit really corrosive acid, and are like impervious to damage. So it's a toss-up IMO. Kakashi's ninken are pretty damn versatile as well.

Sakura probably summoned another slug. I remember a cover with Sakura having a pink and grey colored slug in her shoulder while Naruto and Sasuke had Gamakichi and a Jr Manda. Naruto and Sasuke both summoned Gamakichi and the Jr Manda(it had patterns than manda)
Or maybe since Katsuyu has that ability where it can split into miniature versions of itself maybe Katsuyu split into another one for Sakura. I prefer the former.
Or maybe Sakura just ignorantly doomed Tsunade while trying to keep up with Naruto and Sasuke. It will later be revealed it was all plan of her master plan to snatch the Hokage position and Sakura will be revealed as Final Villain.
I'm suprised Naruto and Sasuke are still using summonings at this point. I mean what happened to the Amateratsu surikens and the nigh spammable Rasenshuriken: well not really spammable but they can now be used multiple times.
Now all Sakura needs is a Slug Sage mode and her jump for B to S will kind of seem legit. Either that or some regen feats.
So should Ino and Shikamaru be bumped up to at least B+ or maybe an A- like Choji.

They're trying to get to the main body because the clones are blocking their attacks. Spamming rasenshuriken would be wasting chakra.
