I know right? Why is kishi trying to kill off the best of the Konoha ninjas?
Why can't it be Sakura or Tenten? Hell I'd even settle for Kiba or Shino (only because Kishi doesn't seem to care about Shino much anyways).
Sakura's important to the story. Tenten is too awesome. Kiba loves dogs. Shino wears glasses.
Hinata should be the one to bite the dust now, not Shikamaru.

Neji dies, people either don't care, or they are sad. Kakashi could be dead, nobody says anything. Five Kages could be dead, nobody really cares. But Shikamaru may be dead and uproar galore.
Neji's storyline was done iirc. Kakashi won't die. The guy's a comic book character at this point.
Also, Shikamaru > most of the cast. uhuh

I'm surprised about some reactions here, particularly in the topic of Shikamaru.Cannot really believe people care about that sucker, I don't care if he lives or dies.
Why? Shikamaru is a more prominent character than Ace and Ace's death is still the most shocking of the Big Three. People being surprised by Shikamaru's death is pretty easy to understand.
Granted the shock of Ace's death was mostly due to watching Luffy come so far to fail. Ace as a character was just kinda eh.
I just thought of something. Even though Obito is now immune to ninjutsu pretty much, senjutsu still works right? So I figure if natural energy attacks work on Obito then why can't Sasuke just fry him with Kirin which is just natural lighting being guided by chakra. Just a thought.
Also concerning Shikamaru yeah it would be a pretty big deal but considering Kishi hasn't killed the Kages, it would be really weird to kill him off now.

Obito at this point could just knock the clouds aside. And yeah it takes a shit ton of time.
Though it would be awesome.
Naruto: "So uh Sasuke...got anything that can hurt him?"
Sasuke: "Well I have one move that'll do it...but we're gonna need a lot of fire to make thunderclouds."
So the entire army begins burning the tree with explosions and anything they can muster while the Kage cover them. Obito, having a huge god complex now, doesn't really try and figure out what they're planning. He targets Minato and Tobirama so they can't port around. He kills them and many others as the storm clouds slowly gather. Right when he is about to launch the move we see the first raindrop. Sasuke uses Kirin and Obito, remembering the Itachi and Sasuke fight, launches the Bijuu balls floating behind him into the lightning to create a huge explosion that clears the sky again. Just as Obito feels victorious Naruto, having been thrown by Bee and the Raikage, drives a Sage Mode Bijuu Bomb Rasengan right into his chest!
I'll be sad when this doesn't happen.

I understand that Shika is an important character, but to be mad at his demise it's something I don't particularly feel. He has done lot of stuff, the character has had lots of respect, it's not as if he needed to continue living to actually have growth or anything like that. He's in a place where dying is not that much of a big deal.

Ah but there is part of his character that is left unexplored. He's supposed to help raise Asuma's kid.
If we're going to kill characters with completed arcs someone like Lee works better. Not that we need to kill the Konoha 11.
