Compared to most manga Naruto's pleasantly racially diverse.

It helps if you know the subgenre Kishimoto's parodying with them. In martial arts anime in Japan, one of the traditional roles is 'the Chinese rival'. Like Tien to Goku in DB (no Z) for one example.
Team Guy is it's own martial arts thing. Rock Lee's the 'protagonist' and Neji's his Chinese Rival 🙂

If we're talking shortly before the defection, then Team 7. Though earlier on I could see Team Kurenai beat them- Kiba and Shino are both pretty good from the get go and Hinata > Sakura. Before Naruto learns how to fox-chakra on purpose, and before rasengan and chidori enter the team's arsenal.
Team Asuma's ok and has the best teamwork, but Shikamaru's probably going to run out of chakra before they can score a win.

When it comes to everybody I think Naruto, Itachi, Sasuke, Shikamaru, and the Sand siblings (assuming they all had the same mother) are the only people we've seen both parents on. And out of those only Naruto's do we not know what happened to.

Either Team Kakashi or Team Asuma. Team Kakashi if we take End-of-Part 1 levels, but Team Asuma is their only threat.
Shino's the only threat on Team Kurenai. Kiba got taken out by a 'Kyuubi-less' Naruto, and I doubt he'd stand a chance against Naruto post-Chuunin exam.
Hinata, she'd rather make out with Naruto than fight him. She'll attack Sakura or Sasuke, but he'll just b****-slap her like Neji did.
Team Asuma has Shikamaru. If he's calling the shots, chances are, he can capture Sasuke or Naruto in his jutsu. Naruto's seen how his jutsu works though, and he knows Shikamaru doesn't have a lot of chakra.
Chouji's a heavy hitter, but Sasuke & Naruto are more than capable of handling him.
Ino can f*** around with Sakura in the meantime. Ino won't be able to cut off her hair a second time, so I give Sakura the win.

Kiba was dishing out some good damage to him early on, Naruto got pretty lucky to pull the clone move off. Also, I think he'd do better in a team context where Shino and Hinata can help keep him from falling for tricks.
Post-exam, he did have the two headed dog move, which was pretty powerful.
