Seth picked his books up and rolled his eyes, he felt like punching him in the face but decided he wouldn't want to get into any more trouble.

Katherine saw when Derek did this and did nothing, Seth gave her a weak smile and walked to his locker. Katherine joined Derek and said, "You know Derek, you should be more careful about the things you do, we dont want you going to jail for the 30th time."

"We both know I'm going to jail anyways, so what's the point of staying out of trouble?"

Katherine looked surprised, "No i dont know that because I think your smart enough to keep yourself from going to jail..again!"

Katherine turned to see a few kids form her homeroom look at them, she looked at them and inched closer to Derek, in a near whisper she said, "look Derek I know that you like spaeking your mind and all and maybe even trouble comes after you, but I know you can stay away from it, I dont want to see you go to jail again Derek, you don't belong there"

"You saw that kid in the cell with me, right? Well let me tell you something--that's the same kind of person I am. That's how I was born and that's how I'll be for the rest of my god f***ing life. And you can get used to it, or you can go to hell. That's just who I am, and nothing can change that now." After a pause, he added in a whisper, "Still want to be one of my people?" He turned around and went to class.

Katherine ran in front of him, "I dont want to be one of your people if thats what you think your like!, Derek you can be a tough guy, but your not a criminal!, Derek I saw that guy in that cell, and you two arent the same kind because you have something he doesnt! a heart, you think that guy would've saved my life when i was in trouble, do you think that kind of guy cares for Allor! No! and if you want to ruin your life by a stupid categorization that YOU made, go ahead! One thing i will tell you I wont be part of it!"

Allor put a hand on Kat's shoulder. "Not everyone is like you. Some people have their own way that's hard to change and sometimes, in this case, never will. Just like deborah and Me, Seth and Derek. Each kid has an archrival."

"Thanks Al," Derek said, and walked off to class.

Allor watched him leave. "Oh well, I got to go. Um, Jorgen and I are going to skip class and come back later."

Derek didn't feel like he could face going to school. Finally, he went outside, dropped his pack on the sidewalk, and skated around doing tricks.

Allor walked outside. "So wanna tell me what's wrong?" she asked. "Or should I just shut up and watch ya skate."

"Wrong? Everything's wrong," Derek said, sitting down on a bench. "My mom's dead, I have no money, I'm probably going to have to go into some foster home, my grades are slipping, the only things outside of school I know how to do are skate and play music, I'm suicidally depressed, I'm going to jail, what's not wrong?"

Allor shrugged. "Wait you didn't tell me your mother was dead. How did she die?" Allor was now more worried then ever.

"I didn't want to admit it, but I knew as soon as she was missing she was dead... It's the same thing happened to my dad. Got in debt some drug dealers, they came and killed him."

"That's awful." She said . "If there's anything me or Marria can do you tell us and it will be done."

"Thanks but I don't think you can help."

"Um, a foster family is out of the question. You could like live with me and Marria. We have at least two spare bedrooms that are never used."

"Really? And you wouldn't go telling any social workers, right?"

"Of course not." she said shrugging. "I hate them anyways."

Derek didn't know what to say. He leaned over and hugged her, entirely at a loss for words.

Allor was surprised by the embrace. She patted his back. "Youre welcome." she whispered.
