I think Cho might be mixed, like her father is Chinese, hence the last name is Chang, and maybe her mother is cocasian, because nothing is said in the book about Cho being Chinese or something like that.

Cho means "butterfly" in Japanese, so there's probably some Japanese in her as well.

i dont hate her, but i dont really think theres a chance of her and harry getting together.

I think JKR made it pretty clear in the 5th book that they wont be getting together again...

Harry was surprised to find that this information did not hurt at all. Wanting to impress Cho seemed to belong to a past that was no longer quite connnected with him.

I think its kinda dumb to have pictures at the bigining of the chapter cuz jkrowling is the only person who knows for deifinate what every1 looks like. They went an all english cast as always but if cho is ment to be asain then they might make an excetion. It is quite posible she isn't asain. Maybe she was adopted into a chinease family. or mabey her mum read a japanease book before she gave birth and choose that name. I dont think her colour has anything to do with how she will get on with people.

listen the name isnt anything... so wat maybe her mum liked asian names! And Chang looks Asian, although it only seems to us! My name is kinda Latin and Russian, but that doesnt mean I'm Latin or Russian, but Im Maltese. Maybe her father could be kinda asian, but i dont think she is.. i saw many photos of "Auditioning Cho" and only a few are asian looking. i heard a rumor saying that the person being cho may not be asian...so that confirms she's not asian in the books, they're not gonna change all that in the film!

What do you mean that wouldnt fit LindIsTightK? Not everone in the movie or books are white.

I can't believe this thread. She could be a British citizen whose parents are (citizens also) Asian. In the U.S. version of book 5, there is a picture, and she looks of Asian descent. And, LindsIsTightK, Lee Jordan--who announces the Quidditch games in the movies--is not white.

I've got a photo of the girl that will play Cho in the movies, I'm not sure if it's true, but here you have. She's a singer, I think.

i know what you mean saying that an asian girl wouldnt fit into a british program, but nowadays in britain there are lots of asian/black people about who have been here all their life.
p.s. for all of you who have watched the trailor: there is an asian girl holding a toad in the choir. which i havent seen before and maybe could be cho? i cant make out if shes wearing a gryffindor uniform or not. i just pressed pause and had a quick look. tell me what you think! 🙂

i think everyone pictured cho as an asian girl because of her name and because asian girls are usually very pretty.
i mean most of us pictured the same cho, so i guess thats how jk pictured her too.

That is BoA Kwon. She's a Japanese singer. She will MOST DEFINITELY not be Cho, cuz she's obviously far too old. Plus I don't think she knows much English. I'm almost certain they will pick a Eurasian Cho.

Luna, come on. If you were Caucasian, with no hint of any Asian in your blood, would you be named Cho? And even if you were, you wouldn't have the last name Chang. She inherited her last name from her dad, which means she's gotta be at LEAST half-asian.

And she WON'T be completely Caucasian, take my word for it. If she is, I'll start a rebellion or something against the already-stupid-enough producers. I will NOT let them have a pure white Cho. They'll most likely pick an Brit of Asian descent. Half or even quarter Asian is fine, but if you use any bit of common sense...just realise that Cho Chang CANNOT be full Caucasian.

Actually BoA is Korean. I don't think she knows much English. But I agree that they will probably pick a Brit of Asian descent.
