Warner Bros. has made the decision not to officially announce the names of the people playing parts like Cho Chang, Cedric Diggory and Fleur Delacour, because the young actors are currently taking important exams.

The studio told CBBC Newsround Online that their main concern was that naming the young actors during their exams would put more pressure on them, by bringing them into the media spotlight in the middle of a vital time in their education.
The actress playing Cho Chang won't start filming her scenes until later in the summer, probably July.

Okay, I'm not bashing. But she looks typical. LOL. I kind of imagined Cho to have a more sharp beauty (like Lana from Smallville)...
Katie Leung has the CUTENESS not the SHARPNESS I imagined Cho to be.
But don't you guys think that she SO MUCH looks like Mary Grandpre's illustration of Cho Chang in the chapter "The Beetle At Bay" (OOTP) 😱
Lana from Smallville? Hmm, I've never found her remotely attractive, I know a lot of people think she is but I can't see it - she is cute and that's it imo. Maybe it's just cos her over the top doe eyed feminine character annoys the hell out of me 😒 But in terms of what you were saying, I'd definitely say Lana has cute featuree and is pretty in general but when you say 'SHARP' I think striking. Sharp looks to me are defined features that are penetrating.
But in general I've always (since the 80's) found Sally Yeh to be very beautiful and captivating and more recently Kelly Hu - but there'd have to be much younger versions for Cho though lol 😉

That's what I think too. Looking at the coloured picture she's not as pretty as some of the other Cho hopefuls....yeah, I get what you mean by the typical look too....to me it's the nose.
She most definitely doesn't have the accent. Cho is supposed to be British born Chinese therefore have a pure British accent which Boa doesn't and will never have. Her English may be good but it has not reached that level. She has the looks I give you that but it still doesn't garentee her the part or that she deserves it. Cho has been cast...that's that.
I agreed... It seems like that some of the other girls who were not chosen looked better than Katie Leung. It really seemed like she is chosen because she looked so typical of what the western world see Asain as.
Quite a disappointment that she got chosen. Afterall I feel I would make a better Cho 😉 Only because I am older that's why I am not Cho-sen 🙁
Just hope that when and if JK Rowling writes a book on Harry Potter when he is old, she would include the old version of Cho Chang... I will definitely be the first one at the audition

I know we're all disappointed about it in the way that she didn't really fit our expectations but I think we need to move on now and it's not really fair of us to keep saying she is typical and other girls would have been better. We haven't even given her a chance ❌ - I think we should just wait and see how she is now before we make any judgements on if anyone else would have been better because for all we know she could be a great actress plus we could change our minds afterwards. We might not of course 😉 but still there's no need to bring the girl down because of the way she looks. It's like how many of us were upset and disappointed with the casting of Gary Oldman as Sirius because he wasn't like our mental image of him but a few trust his acting skills and the others are kind of willing to suspend their disbelief until they watch him action. Whaddaya all say we do the same with Cho for now? 🙂
