"Your interest is in socrates? I know socrates life was a very sad one, at least his final days. He was made to live in a cave where he could not see "people" only their shadows.
One could consider its primitive matrix where nothig he saw was real. He was a in a prison. When its all said and done it had to do with his senses. Like the matrix has to do with our senses. Everything we experience is though sensory information. If false sensory information is sent we really wouldnt know the difference.
For example, some soldiers who have limbs cut off in war come home and sometimes experience pain in the limb in which it is obvious they have lost. This is called the phantom limb. It is one of the few natural occurences of sensory deception in the real world.
But alas socrates did not create this painting, what is your interest in the painter?"
Oooh, sorry, I am normally the one caught out with an insufficiently fast edit...
And yes, of course, anyone with any knowledge of Philosophy should know that the whole Socrates 'thing' is one of the fundamental bases of the films. However, as I said, such knowledge is in no way vital to anyone, it just adds some extra context.
"I trust you know little about the painter?"
"I know he was a knight in france under Napolean, but he was banished after Napolean lost power. As far as I know he didnt do much except paint. he was french revolution supporter though so he did spend some time in jail....Ohh and he did that ubsurd painting of a tall Napolean..ugh..."
Castor laughed a bit thinking of the picture.
