I have not been able to find a definite answer on this, was wondering if anyone on here could tell me.
What's the melee attack power needed to run lvl 80 heroics, I'm currently at 2276 and my hit rating is around 9%. I just seem to not get invited once a person asks my AP, I am pretty sure it's too low but I haven't been able to find a def answer on the min AP to run lvl 80 heroics.

Is it worth doing the battlegrounds before high levels? I want to stop at 49 for a while and get some XP at it in Arathi Basin. I don't want to be noob-ish when I hit 80, and need PvP XP anyway. But is far less honor points or something?
I've been waiting for a battle for an hour anyway, so it's not like I can go at it much (damn low-population server). But meh. Any input is appreciated.

the quest rewards from northrend are likely to send your hard earned BG items into the garbage can.. unless you get BG currencies and save them for 80
So I recommend just shooting for 80 and not to worry too much about gear til then

No, whatever experience you get from 49 pvp will be obsolete at 80, especially since most people at that level will be twinks, the game will changes drastically by the time you get to 80. Just get to 80 and learn then, no one really cares about BG's anyways, it's expected that each game will have some noobs in it, no one will care, and it's the only real way to learn about end game pvp.
