hmmm, what I think FM perhaps means with suicide being selfish, is that you kill yourself and don't think about what others would feel like when you're gone...quite frankly, if you want to commit suicide, you don't think for one instant about others, most of the time you think no one will miss you and that you're better off dead
exactly you just arent thinking at the time otherwise they just wouldnt do it would they xxxx
Syren> Ah, yes. Complete trust. It’s a tricky one. But again – it does seem as if most people here agrees that “dying with dignity” (choosing euthanasia to end pain, helplessness, brain-death etc) is okay.
Depressed but otherwise healthy people should receive help to get over their depression.
Silver Tears> It’s illegal here in DK. Of course not in the sense that if you suceed killing yourself, they’ll toss your corpse in jail. It’s got to do with insurance, and that the ATTEMPT itself is illegal (I dunno if those who fail in their attempt actually get prosecuted). Let’s say someone flings themselves in front of a train and the train-driver manages to hit the brakes, so the suicidal person only gets injured but does not die. In this case the train-driver is of course completely without fault, you can’t even go attempted manslaughter or some such on him. The “blame” rests entirely on the one who attempts suicide.
