Rebels do not strike at defenseless shuttles, right? Though I would have to explain to Vader and Emperor how the hell I lost Star Destroyer in a war against race with 0 airpower.

But this discussion is purely theoretical anyway, since only big thing getting destroyed is Lanzar City itself! Everything else is for your wet dreams only. 🙄

Theoretically, I think we'd rather let Esgabath's defenseless shuttle leave, just so that he could explain to Vader and the Emperor exactly how he managed to lose a Star Destroyer to a small, rag-tag band of Rebels.

They'd do far worse to him than our moral compasses would let us dream of. 😄

We certainly took it from the films, especially A New Hope,m that fighter cover was extremely important, even for a tought cookie like a Star Destroyer.

Still, it took the Force for Luke to land that shot. There is no dead certain risk here, especially with the Rebels being one ship down from their compliment. For the Imperials, it's just not worth the risk. They have so much more to lose and are almost obliged to play it safe.

Yeah, but remember, you can get all the fame if you conquer Lanzar 😛 Althought if something destroys the artillery and we won't be able to invade Lanzar, you can always blame one of the captains for forcing the Tie Squadrons to come away from the Artillery.
