Arin was obviously not happy. He spent half that part of the story asking "Has Ascar disappeared yet?" and the other half trying to stop his Renegade teammate from quietly killing him.

...that's kind of seriously awesome and hilarious.

haha I beat Lana 😛

Grrrrrr.

Are we allowed to know just how powerful Ascar is? I suspect he has at least a Force rating of 12 and the kinetic powers maxed out, if was flinging Xeth around at some point.

I don't want to give out numbers, no but he is VERY powerful.

Though his Force attack rating is not going to be as high as Sienar's or Adelmo's. He can use Fling, for sure, and pretty well, but he's not going to rule the galaxy with that power. His true talents are elsewhere.

Well, that's not fair on either Sienar or Adelmo, who both have/had many other talents. But Ascar is fully controlled and rational.

What Ascar probably has the highest of is effective Force Defence.

Are his true talents his ability to be a complete pain to everyone else? 😛

Yeah, he's pretty good at that.

I can attest to that. If Galder saw Ascar again, he would likely attempt much stabbery.

You take things so personally!

He could have just given us the Astrolabe, but nooo, he had to play us. Too bad I wasn't available around the time we finished up the Podrace. I had been winning, too!

Ah, well, look at it from the point of view of what you have learned since.

Ascar thought Kuylen was obsessed and out of control. He tried to convince him not to bother with the Mausoleum. Once it became clear that there was no stopping that obsession, Ascar thought it very unwise to get caught up on it.

When all is said and done, does he look so wrong?

Galder probably would have done similar in that situation, save his own hide rather than get pinned for having helped obsessive criminals.

I haven't actually thought much about how Galder would respond to Kuylen if the issue of the Mausoleum came up. That was an IMMENSE let down for Kuylen, and we could have seen it coming if he had not been so damn driven...

Indeed; that was Kuylen's failing.

You are slightly surprised he still has the will to go on, if indeed he is alive after all.

I have a feeling that the Mausoleum of Demnos was not the only target he had in mind. Especially since Briande was in possession of part of the Opus...

I like how Ascar views himself as a sort of tragic hero. Often correct but always ignored. If only people would just listen to him, all would be correct.

When in reality... well...

I think his main problem is that he is a gambler. He likes to play games and play the odds.

He knows exactly what he is and that makes him the most dangerous foe of all. I have a bad feeling about him.

Not going to be online till early morning tomorrow, I am going to a table top Role Play event, that my friend is running. It's D&D, I hate it, but I promised I'd go.

It's worth noting, btw, that we did get a bit suspicious about more plagiarism when Heroes had Malcolm MacDowell playing a shadowy yet extremely rich businessman with super powers that is playing everyone in the background all the time...
