I was actually thinking the opposite. Well, at least in regards to our current situation...

So uh, that trailer huh?

SO GOOD.

I'm most intrigued by Han's line about the stories about the Jedi and the Dark Side being true. It makes it sound as if the Jedi aren't really around and about just yet.

Everything looks epic, though!

It makes sense for the Jedi to be myths.
Why would anyone think they were back. If you didn't personally know Luke, everything would be disguised or behind the scenes. What was the Jedi stuff he did?
Blew up the Death Star, but easy to assume that was just tactics or luck.
ESB, he is messing around on Hoth, The only jedi thing he does is Saber that AT-AT and kill a wampa. He then bolts to Degobah, then back to Bespin where he fights Vader yes, but nobody is around to see that.
ROTJ, Saves Han, but then kills all witnesses. Also who is paying attention to Tatooine? Then fights Vader and the Emperor, but the whole SSD blows up, so no trace there. You could look at the whole Rebel struggle from the outside and never assume that there was Luke/Jedi. Just that the Rebels occasionally got lucky.

Man that trailer was good. The music is what did it most for me.

That makes sense. I'd imagine the Empire spent a lot of time suppressing and spreading misinformation about the Jedi amongst the Rebels.

John Williams on fleek. They played all the right themes. I'm excited to see what new themes he introduces in this film, in addition to the old favorites. That was my favorite part about the prequels, honestly. Listening to what new stuff John Williams threw at us and seeing how he tied it in with music from the original films.

And yeah, I suppose that makes sense. But at the same time, Luke must not be getting the word out that he's a Jedi and wants to train more Jedi. IF he wants to train more Jedi.

I'd find it strange if he doesn't want to train new Jedi. But then again I don't quite know what sort of state the SW Galaxy is in post RotJ so maybe he has a reason not to.

Chaos, looks like!

Very much seems it.

The new Tie Fighters look cool, digging the color scheme.

I think a lot of rumors point toward Luke being a self-exiled hermit ala Obi-Wan and Yoda. He may not feel worthy to train future Jedi, at least not shortly after events in ROTJ. The exile may either be to hone his skills.
One of the worst sins the prequel trilogy committed, in my mind, is belittling Luke's Jedi training. Yoda aside, when comparing the length and the depth of Luke's training it's like he received a YMCA blackbelt and considered himself a Shaolin Monk.
When you think about it, it takes some of Vader's power away as well. That a kid with a few months/years of private training can stand toe-to-toe with the most powerful Force user in history, a man a generation older than him who had been trained from youth and defeated countless Jedi in his time, tells me that Vader was a decrepit shell of his former self.
Now, maybe you can reach that conclusion without the prequel trilogy, but it's the prequels that made me realize it. It probably has a lot to do with the age I was when I first saw Star Wars (pretty young), but I saw 9and prefer to see) Vader as the most fearsome warrior who was defeated by a valliant young Knight. A clash of two of the three greatest in the world (Galaxy)
Now since the Jedi are gone, they really are two of the three most powerful people in the Galaxy, it's just that the scale of their skill doesn't match those of the Prequel characters.
All that winding rant to say that Maybe Luke is rediscovering the full potential of the Force and just hasn't felt ready to train the next generation. I've also heard that perhaps he already maxed out his powers and seeing how terrible they can be, is hiding himself away for the safety of the galaxy and will not train for this same reason. it will be interesting to see what it really is.

I guess my brother should get writing some RP ideas for JJ Abrams to copy.

We should compile a list of everything that's been "borrowed" from you and him so far.

The science vs. cinema guys over at AICN have edited together a supercut of all of the teasers and trailers? It's pretty damn special.
Oh and if I can make a prediction? Solely on the released official footage (I have resisted all temptation to view any leaked script or insider info) it has long been my belief that Finn dies in this movie. The supercut solidified my belief big-time. I may be WAAY off, but I'm putting my bet down now.

What makes you think that?

And what are we betting? 😛

I'll bet you a Force point in the next Episode.

I never noticed before watching that supercut, but I think Daisy is crying over Finn's body on that Night-time snowy forest world. That's what solidified it for me. What started it was when we first see him igniting the saber. You see fear, not confidence. It's just the way the scene is shot. I don't know if directors and actors telegraph this stuff on purpose or subconsciously, but a LOT of times I can guess who dies in a movie by the way actors are shot in certain scenes. Besides, with Hermit Luke, I doubt he Finn has much training, if any, at that point and is no match for the clearly skilled and fanatic Ren.
Also, Leia's and (I think) Luke's voice-overs are speaking to Rey. I think she's Family and I don't think Finn is. Finn's not the new Jedi/Force User, Rey is. Finn just gets an awesome Hero's death and is probably the catalyst for Luke rejoining the fight.

These are all just my gut feelings. Once the movie is out (or if Disney has this post mysteriously deleted) this will probably be a sadly hilarious post.

Hmm, I did wonder about that Rey crying over someone clip...

I'll try and get xp stuff etc. done this week!

Sounds good! Pretty sure I've worked out what I'm planning on spending it on. A force power and a skill upgrade. (Which ones specifically I'm still deciding. 😛 )

Will some of the new/revised schticks shown to us earlier in this thread be options for purchase? I have some idea already of what I want to buy, but just curious.

I might invest in Language to keep Azarl from being too handicapped. He's happy to let others do the talking but better to be prepared.

That and Pilot.

And maybe Iron Will...
