Be by Common and Illmatic by Nas

I'd get Black Star before The New Danger. I'd get it before BOBS too, but at least BOBS is almost on the same level as Black Star. Also Talib Kweli's Reflection Eternal/Train of Thought album is better than The New Danger.

As for Wu Tang stuff.. get 36 Chambers (of course) but I'd also look into getting solo albums like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (Raekwon) and Liquid Swords (GZA).. both are absolute classics.

As for Operation: Doomsday.. good luck finding a copy.

I'd also recommend the first two Method Man solo albums.

-AC

dont forget about ghostface, ironman was a dope album.

Supreme Clientele too.

i heard that was good, ill dl that in a bit. any other good wu solo albums?

All of those mentioned, plus:

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Return To The 36 Chambers
Masta Killa - No Said Date
GZA - Legend Of The Liquid Sword
Shabazz The Disciple - Book Of Shabazz

RZA, Cappadonna, U-God and Inspectah Deck have all made pretty good solo albums too (all of them their debuts).

The ones i left on your list are the ones i have and would totally recommend. I have only heard bits and pieces off the others. As Afro rightly said Blackstar is probably best to start off with, then BOBS (havent heard The New Danger). The first two Blackalicious albums are a must have, same with The Roots Illadelph Halflife. Aesop Rock-Labor Days, Brother Ali-Shadows on the Sun, Eyedea-First Born, Haiku DTat-Coupe De Theatre, John Smith-Blunderbus, Zion I-True n livin, The Roots-Do you want more, Common-Resurrection and Edan-Beauty and the beat.
Happy shopping man. 😄

It's all about P & C

and before you check out the Craft get Blackalicious best album (from front to back) Melodica:

and then Nia and Blazing Arrow.

Here's a classic Blackalicious track from Melodica for everybody to check out:
