"GZA said it, this is not a eighty-five affair"- J-Live

actually Gza never said that. it was Masta Killa that said it on the Gza track 'Dual of the Iron Mic'

just a random fact i just noticed

"L.A. is hollywood, New York is music"- Jim Jones

Oh yeah..I recognised that quote so I just assumed it was GZA.

That's the ''when the God's get on and perform, storms brew up'' line.

On a sidenote to that sidenote, how come inside Liquid Swords, everyone on that song is uncredited? Masta Killa and Inspectah Deck have verses, and ODB's on the hook, but it just says ''featuring Dreddy Kruger''. Watchutalkinbout GZA??

I remember when you first came on KMC, you were convinced that all classics came from the west coast, took me kool and hh to convince you otherwise 😛

Now look at you, all growed up and naming yourself after the Fifth Brother, I'm proud 😊

read between the lines doggy, lol, jimmy is on point with that sh*t

you dudes hate too much

New York being critical in the birth of hip hop doesn't equate to the city continually being the best at it. It'd be wise to remember this. Hopefully he just means hip hop, because the amount of L.A bands to NY bands is a massacre.

Well, in terms of hip-hop, he's got a point.

Public Enemy, Ultramagnetic MCs, A Tribe Called Quest & Slick Rick in the 80's

Wu-Tang, Jeru, Nas, De La Soul, Mobb Deep & Co Flow in the 90's

Cannibal Ox, Cormega, Aesop Rock, J-Live & MF Doom in the 00's...

All NY, and give or take one or two, those are the defining MCs/groups of each decade.

^co-f*cking-sign

and this is not taking anything away from you and your city... but ny is hiphop and that's pretty hard to dispute.

and 4 the record...

jeru the damaja is one of the greatest to ever do it, too bad he cant cope up with the turn of time

Dreddy Krueger was also credited on the track Hip Hop Fury from his Beneath the Surface album as you all know.

Oddest name, to look at I mean. Always looks like an odd name.

I'm saying in comparison to 90's rap. For some reason, I'm not feeling **** from now.

like in the 2000's I haven't been feeling the appeal that I felt from heads in the 90's for some reason.

you know why?

because when nelly discovered the formula on how to sell albums and reach white america and the teens... the label owners hopped on that formula.

that scientific style rap where mcs are spitting real shit went out of fashion in 96'

wait im sorry, i meant 98'

98 was still holding hiphop down after that it's the bling bling era

The Bling Bling didn't get really popular until '99 but it had started once Biggie and Puffy came on to the scene. (Note: I not blaming Biggie for the Bling Bling era so much as so many of these fake MC's today using his image, lyrics, style etc.)

Sorry I'm late with my track of the week, but I've been mad busy this week...

This is the OFFICIAL "D00m track of the week". Guaranteed enjoyment by anyone who doesn't wear Pink.

This week's featured artist/group is Ohio's Five Deez. Led by superstar producer (he's unknown in the mainstream, but his music makes him deserve superstar status). One of the most underrated producers in the game, Fat Jon is also one of the best. He's the driving force behind Five Deez and their music. If you guys love Jazz influenced hip-hop, prepare to fall in love with Jon. So without further ado, here's Decapitated Orgasms:
