With all due respect, I couldn't care less what ''any head'' says. It seems, like every other genre, many hip-hop fans are enslaved by the so-called 'classics', and anyone who doesn't join the flock of sheep in bleeting their forever loyal praises to Illmatic and Cuban Linx, and decides that actually, music does move on and newer, more experimental things can actually be good too, are wrong. I mean, ask any head, right? They all apparently think exactly the same thing after all.So yeah, excuse me for finding the groundbreaking, epic, ugly/beautiful genre-transcending soundscapes that constitute The Cold Vein's production, and the poetic heart and soul that Vast Aire pours into Iron Galaxy, A B-Boy's Alpha, The F-Word, Pigeon and Scream Phoenix, more than the usual ''clothes, bankrolls and hoes''. Yeah yeah, 'smh' I know, but it's really not that I don't like Nas, on the contrary, I've defended him from many a put down, especially recently, but in my eyes, nothing can even touch The Cold Vein, and I have many arguments to back up why I believe it is an all time classic (of any genre) if you want to discuss it further. So whatever, you can choose to respect my opinions or not, I've said what I wanted to say.
That was a long post. I need drugs now.
^be easy my dude
i aint knockin on ya hustle B, do you. but what's really good wit the cold vein? i just heard it last week (cd) and i wasnt really impressed with it... except for Vein, f-word, iron galaxy and painkillers... no doubt these joints = classic. but that's 4 out of 15, not really a good look, and that's why i cant consider it a classic.
plus half the time that nigga vordul mega just comes out too vague on some high on mushrooms shit... lol, im like wtf this dude sayin.
beats are sorta new for my ears too, ill admit i like them, el-p made them, ryt? but that's about it.
so let's see:
1. hot beats
2. 4 classic songs
3. 11 good-average songs
4. abstract lyricism
= not touching the top 20 hiphop albums spot. that's just my opinion tho.
sorry.

i gave the album a few weeks listen and it didn't leave rotation for a few years...and i to this day still listen to it. The only track that i usually skip is the 'Raspberry Fields'.
Every single track besides the one i usually skip in my opinion is 4.5/5 or 5/5
in my opinion that is.

i'll say this
Cold Vein > Reasonable Doubt
Illmatic > Cold Vein
just my opinion, don't take it as im dissing Jay Z. RD was and still is a classic album 👆
^its cool, no diss
you really think it's better than RD? wow. im not feelin that, man (no diss) because IMO, reasonable doubt is the last offering of the golden age before the bling-bling invasion.
and let me just say el-p still not on primo's level... sorry had to just say that one
P.S.

I've got Cold Vein playing in my car at the moment, love it. I wouldnt go as far to say its hands down the greatest but by now we all realise that its all opinions at this point.
I havent heard much from Cage but Hells Winter sounds by all accounts like a must have so i'll get that when i have the money. Eyedea is awesome, Colour the world mine is an epic track that still blows me away today.
Anyone heard a track by Vast and Vordul called A and I 2000? Great track, wouldnt be out of place on Cold Vein. Also anyone heard You will listen by Playdough? I got it off D00m on slsk and have fallen in love with it. I'll be happy to up it if you havent.
id like to hear it.
been listening to virtuoso's new-ish mixtape, its pretty good. i can't wait for his new album. it should be pretty good. warcloud's still getting lots a listens from me, and my friends been goin crazy over hell's winter since i made him the copy. its made me listen to that a couple more times, i must've missed this line before, but its my new favourite from the album.
"came to fill em' with pain take a print of my brain,
flash it on the screen you won't leave the cinema sane"
another album like this and cage'll be my new favourite artist.
Here's that track i was talking about by Playdough. I upped it on my computer at home using dial up (took me half an hour) so as the song goes "you will listen". Enjoy:

Good night guys.
