One Be Lo - The R.E.B.I.R.T.H. Buy it. Dude can do no wrong.
Also been spinning Jaku by DJ Krush a lot recently. Used to listen to Milight and Zen quite a lot, just as sort of background music when I was studying and shit, picked up Jaku just recently and was very pleasantly surprised. Possibly the illest collection of instrumental hip-hop joints I've heard since Deadringer, Donuts and the earlier Special Herbs CDs. Really interesting. If anyone wants to give it a try, check out the track ''Univearth''. So nice.
You guys have any ideas on how to sum up 2007. I definitely was an interesting year.. Was 2007 the death of gangsta rap? Kanye beat 50 in selling records and G-unit broke up anyway. The subgenres är more than ever, will it keep on growing? I can think of ten different subgenres and I'm still forgetting many of them..
Tell me your opinion on 2007!
Originally posted by vaniceit was an okay year for hip hop. good albums here and there but only 1 album really stood out for me. Cunninlynguists- Dirty Acres. i'm a fan of the group so it may be somewhat bias.

I'm lovin' that album, I only got it the other day and it's been played so much. KNO is yet to let me down.

I thought Food Liquor was better actually.
He really toned down the lyrics on The Cool, and I just wasn't feeling all the catchy hooks...
I liked the hooks, but I see what you are saying. I personally like the beats better on The Cool, and that's what pushed me towards it.

How would you guys rate the Cunninlynguists albums? I'd say1. A Piece of Strange
2. Southernunderground/Dirty Acres tie
3. Will Rap For FoodThey're definitely the best group around right now, I'd say.
I'd go
1. A Piece of Strange
2. Will Rap for Food
3. Dirty Acres
4. Southernunderground
And have any of you heard anything new from De La Soul? Been kinda down that they haven't put anything out for a while after their 4 albums in 5 years.
good year in my opinion
sick jacken & DJ Muggs - The legend of the Mask and the Assassin (best release of the year)
The fall , summer and winter eps by Atmosphere were all dope as well
Cunninglynguists - dirty acres ( as many have mentioned is good)
Marco Polo - Port Authority ( Was my favorite of the year at the time it was dropped)
El-P - ISWYD (better than fantastic damage)
Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass ( second favorite Aesop release right behind Labor Days)
Ghostface Killah - Big Doe Rehab ( not as good as fishscale but there isn't much that is in the last 2 years)
Pharoahe Monch - Desire ( better than internal affairs)
i still have to listen to the new common, talib, blue & exile, brother ali, brand nubian, cormega, percee p and scarface
