Hell no 😘 That whole Cali gangsta scene got old right after SOC.
Aside from Ice Cube and NWA's first album, west coast old-school was comprised of idiots like MC Hammer, Ice T and Snoop Dogg.
Old-school NY hip-hop is where all the legends were at; Slick Rick, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Biz Markie, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Ultramagnetic MC's...that's just off the top of my head. Dre & Co can't compete with that kind of talent.

Old school Snoop alright, and most classics came from the West coast.(**** The Police,Gin N Juice,Tha Shiznit,Today Was A Good Day,Natural Born Killaz, etc)
Jus my opinion though

True, there are a whole bunch of classics from the left side, although I would never pick ''It Was A Good Day''. It's a nice song, but Cube did way better. Check out (if you haven't already) ''When Will They Shoot?''. That's undoubtedly the best song to come out of that whole shebang.
And you want classics? Then cast your ears towards the Big Apple:
Traveling At The Speed Of Thought
Bring The Noise
Fight The Power
Microphone Fiend
Children's Story
Warm It Up Kane
Can I Kick It?
The World Is Yours
Protect Ya Neck
i always said east coast had better mc's (in the past), west had nwa, mc eiht, mac dre, ice t, spice 1, e-40, too short, the luniz(considered old school?) and others.
east coast had ATCQ, De La Soul, Wu Tang, KMD, Kool Moe Dee, Eric B and Rakim, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Kool G Rap and a ton of others...

guyz i need suggestions.
my friends decided that we should go on a road trip, and they asked me to bring something with 'sick' beats, and 'hardcore' lyrics.
first time that came to mind was Stoupe's beats, and Paz's...umm average lyrics 😛
what do you guyz recommend i should take? they said something to pump them up on the trip. i was also thinking about the new SOAD album.
Dude i dont have anywhere near the resources you have but when i'm driving i love to listen to:
JMT-Violent by design
Blackalicious-Blazing arrow
J5-Quality control
Aesop-Labor days
Blackstar
Canibus-200BC
The Roots
Brother Ali
Mr Lif
Thats my rotation for what its worth. Im sure the other heads will have a more enlightened selection. Enjoy your road trip, where are you heading?
