Snape's character is not meant to really be liked... pity? loathing? Whatever, the perspective of Harry is a slanted one big time. Snape's character is the most fun, I adore it. I adore him.

The reasons that Harry doesnt like Snape?
1. He bases it on what he looks like. (11 year olds would)
2. He thinks Snape is a git, because he gets caught doing things he shouldnt be. (11 year olds would)

Why does Dumbledore treat Snape like he does? He DD is the one that is mean. He straight face lies to Snape, yet he is the most trusted character?
Example of straight face lie? Book 3, Snape knew Harry was involved, DD knew it too.. but who did DD protect? Poor ittle whiney Harry..

Dumbledore knows enough Occlumency that he can teach it if he wishes to (OP38). Harry Potter has learned some of the basic theory of the art, but ordinarily has had a poor success rate in defending himself against attack. Severus Snape is both a Legilimens and an Occlumens, and is in fact better at Occlumency than Voldemort is at Legilimency, which is how he has survived in his difficult role of spy among the Death Eaters for so long (see Occlumency).

Voldemort is a highly skilled Legilimens, in the estimation of Severus Snape (OP24), to the point where Voldemort can nearly always tell when someone is lying to him. Unlike Snape, Voldemort does not have to speak the incantation to use Legilimency, if his first appearance in GF and last scene in OP are any indication. He is able to possess the bodies of snakes while retaining his own body, possibly through Legilimency (OP21). Through his connection with Harry, he was also able to use his ability to feed images and eventually false visions into Harry's dreams, when Harry's mind was most relaxed and vulnerable (OP24, OP38).

I dont think alan rickman does snape justice. Alan is great and everything but just nto snape. I se snape as pretty young. Not too youn just u no middle ages but in the film he seem just a teacher you love to hate. I THINK SNAPE (I ALWAYS MEAN BOOKS UNLESS I SAY SO) is a really good character i really lie him but i dont think harry will. He blames snape for sirius' death. For all you people who are all *how dare u diss snape* grow up and respect other peoples opinions

I absolutely love Severus!! I love Alan Rickman, I have met him before on my last visit to London. He is very sweet actually nothing like his character, have to go college started

Snape is cool in his own way. Does seem a bit childish sometimes I think though, esspecially around Harry. (Seeing how Sirius always tried to act as Harry was James, I think Serveus did the same.) Anyway, tis cool, yup.

Just a thought I want to throw out there.
Even money, Voldemort knows Snape has betrayed him.
Voldemort has Snape kidnapped to torture him for info on the Order.
Harry rescues Snape, saves his life and thus in the end Snape will be in the debt of not only James, but Harry Potter as well.

snape isn't in debt wih james anymore. He saved harry in the 1st year so he could Hate james memory in peace

alan rickman was a really good actor for acting him, good choice, he snape came good, just right, in the films!
