How do you know this, we don't know anything about his father. His father may have been one of the most fearsome wizards of all time, maybe no wizard was above fearing him. I think when we saw the small flashback of his father beating him in Order of the Phoenix was the give away, she put that in for a reason.
I reckon Ron has finally got Snape sussed out in OOTP. I cant remeber which chapter it is in but, after Harry has an occlumency lesson with Snape, Ron suggests that Snape really is trying to get inside harrys mind, and i believe him. I know he is always thinking that Snape is up to no good and being proved wrong, but there is something telling me that we have a lot to learn about Snape yet, i dont really think he can be trusted as much as we have all grew to believe xx
