Buddy smiled, but shook his head, riding up to his deputy. "I came here to kill him myself, to take Catori and help her seek her vengeance upon this filth, this waste of a man...

"But, as he has explained, he has made a ruin of himself... and he should LIVE with that ruin!" it was good logic, or so it seemed, if only for a moment or two. But, apparently, Buddy may have had a second thought, as Greg had had, and he swung the rifle from his lap and aimed at Jericho.

"Now, where is Catori, you son of a b!tch? Release her! Or I will kill you myself!"

Jericho collapsed to his knees from the gut shot, and whimpered.
"She's GONE! I tell you, she's GONE!!" a moment of tense panic, as rage and sadness swept over Buddy, while he tried to make sense of what his nemesis had said.

"Bastard..." Buddy muttered, lowering the aim of the rifle toward Jericho's head where he squat on the ground, cowering.

"MERCY!!" Geoffrey Jericho pleaded. "I RELEASED HER!! I sent her to bring you here, to judge you for abandoning your post and position in this Army! I am a man of honor, and a soldier! Not a fanatic criminal!"

Buddy's gaze shifted to Greg, and to the Army which surrounded them.
Jericho really did have nothing left to lose, after losing all face and place in this Army..

"He's telling the truth..." the drunken rapist soldier stepped up and confessed. "The savage girl was released, and Commander Jericho was who released her... I should know..." he was still favoring his aching midsection, hobbling and scratching his nuts gingerly.

That was that! Buddy butt-stroked the rapist with his rifle, and the man collapsed to the ground. There was lot of emotion coursing through Buddy just then, and he had to unleash something, or he would have gone mad, mad as Greg had to get to this point ahead of him..

another thought pressed forward in Buddy's head just then:

Where, oh where was Catori??

"We better find her quick! She's in no condition to be wandering out here at night..." Buddy held out his arm to help Greg up onto the back of Buddy's horse, then rode back to Greg's horse, all the while keeping eyes on the surrounding Army troops.

Nobody noticed Jericho draw out his single-shot Derringer then, as he struggled with his gut-shot wound. But everyone heard the shot, and Buddy and Greg wheeled around to see Jericho murder the rapist coward soldier, finishing the job he knew Buddy would have liked to do...

Geoffrey Jericho was on his way to becoming a renegade from the Army the likes of the man who he had hunted all these past 5 years...

irony... aint it ironic??

😱

(yes it is ironic...a new twist)

Catori tried to get a earing on her surroundings. She smelled the wet mildewed wood of the chest she was in. Feeling crouded she reached out to find out how big the box actually was. Was this her fate? To be killed by these nasty white men?

After Catori felt out the dimensions of the huge chests, she pressed her ear to the side to see if there were any more voices. Hearing none she pushed the top open. That was weird. It wasn't locked! How could it not be locked? More importantly why wasn't it?

Peeking her head out, she looked for any guards. They were gone! Her anger flared as a thought passed through her mind. They didn't consider her to be a threat. That's all it took. She slipped out of the trunk and dlooked around. Stupid nasty greaseballs of whitemen. She swore she'd kill them all.

Once they were out of sight, Greg let out a whoop. "Now, if that wasn't a rush, I don't know what the hell is!" Greg looked over at Buddy, and saw the emotions racing back and forth in his eyes. Greg calmed down. "Listen friend, if Catori was released, the first place she would go to is back to you. Lets just get back to New Hope and we can start there." Greg wasn't sure why he was so pissed with a situation that didn't really concern him. Maybe it was b/c he also knew what it was like to loose the only person you loved. He knew how it felt to lose your love, and he wasn't going to let it happen to Buddy.

~K, what've I missed?~

~read it and see Spike... lots going on, but yet, not really... catch up and get back into it before the big money train robbery~

~ah reading 🙁 😛~

Lily followed Ben Sisco back inside and slammed the door shut behind them. "What should we do?" asked Lily. Indicating the yellow lights outside and the fake soilders.

~one minor slight little change to that which has already happened, to help connect things up better now...

We will assume that Benny Sisco and Lily DID see the bandit/soldiers abduct Catori, but Miss Sisco didn't believe their crazy story and hushed them and sent them off to bed! Then they saw Matt outside dealing with the soldier/bandits, so they sneaked outside...~

"We need to get the Sheriff!!" Benny barked boldly. "He'll know what to do about these bandit-soldiers!!" with that, he took Lily's hand and raced away from the mercantile, down the dark streets toward the Sheriff's Office.

When they arrived at her father's office, Lily immediately noticed the blood stained floorboards and her father's hat and coat folded and set neatly on a chair, rather than being hung on the hooks by the door as usual. She inspects the clothing, and find the coat matted with dry blood all over the backside, and she panics and cries out.

Benny pats her gently and whispers to her. "Maybe it's not what it looks like..."

A friend of the family wanders by and frowns, stepping into the office and offering condolences on the loss of her father, and Lily cries... it IS what it looks like-- Sheriff Sanders was killed!!

"Now who can we tell?!" Benny wonders.
"The Renegade outlaw Buddy Reno?"

"YEAH!!" Lily agreed, and they ran out of the office and down the street again, to the edge of town, in search of Buddy Reno...

Matt quickly threw off his coat, covering the dead man with it and taking his army coat. Pulling on the bandanna he let out a low murmur,
"Hey, you, I think I found one of the renegades. That guy trying to join us this afternoon. He's under the coat, but I took his hat. It's too well made to go to waste," saying that, Matt stood to one side of the ladder, allowing the man to rush to the body. As he bent down a kick in the side knocked the wind out of him, and Matt brought down the rifle,, a sickening crack the reward for his efforts.

What kind of tent is it?

~Well, Trick, it's a Coleman Rustic Wilderness series, model #823-A Army issue OD green canvas, hand-sewn 120-stitch, inter-laced flaps allow access and closing from either inside or out... a true woodsman's home away from home, from the Coleman camping company, retail price $59.99... blahda-blahda... how should I know?!!

It's a LARGE tent, could probably sleep 12 to 15 people, its just a large canvas sheet, either wrapped around or with a hole for the pole in the middle, with the tent pole as thick and as tall as a telephone pole (no there's no telephones or poles in the 1860s. but just so you know it's that big, that tall in order that it be that wide on the ground to sleep 12-15 troops...~ 😄

Any way, about that time, as the drunkard collapses next to his pal on the roof, a shout goes up from down below.

"What in tarnation is going on here?!? We have an intruder in our midst!!" -GULP!-

Chancing a glance while ducking for cover and preparing to blast away with the rifle, Matt is relieved (maybe not??) to notice that the ruckus is not focused on him, this time... and, a moment later, relief turns to anxious excitement, when he notices Black Bart (or Black Bruce, I noticed you named him Bruce earlier... or Bruce Black... Bart Bruce??BAH!!) he notices 'the guy who he was hired to kill' standing staring into the tent below!

BB leans into the tent and pulls CATORI from inside, and starts to rough her up and ask question her while more of the men move in and mill about. Matt would take a shot then and there except that Catori is directly in the line of fire, and there are many more guns alert and aware in the vicinity now...

"What's goin on here?!" BB barked again....

Matt let out a yell,
"Look, the army! In the saloon!"

I meant, was it a flat tent that Matt could jump on or what... Fool 😛
Jk

Catori felt her whole ody Stiffen. He was squeezing her arm hard leaving an ugly bruise. Pretending not to understand the white man's language she gave pitiful attempts to struggle free. She looked pleadingly at Bart. "I...I don't know what you are talking about." she said struggling with the words greatly.

"Buddy, what happened to Sheriff Sanders? I know he was murdered," sobbed Lily into her delicate hankerchief. The sound sounded like a foghorn but that is of little importance now.

"There isn't anything I know. It wouldn't help anything right now because it is done. In due time we'll find him," replied Buddy as he studied the desk. He could tell her nothing until the right time.

"I have to know!" shrieked Lily.

"And as I said I can't tell you know!" warned Buddy as he sat up right in his chair. "Lily stay at the Siscos and let me take care of things and like I said we will find the killer in due time." With that Lily got up from her pathetic posture on the ground. Holding back a tear she wiped her hankerchief briefly on it.

Turning on her heel at the door she said loudly, "But you will find him won't you?"

"Yes Lily I will," calmly said Buddy before the door slammed behind her. "Hard to convince her ain't it?" With that a small chuckle came from the others.

"Miss Lily Sanders it be better if you rested here," soothed Ben to the struggling dancer. She tried to break free to find her father's killer.

"No it wouldn't!" screamed Lily. "Because I must avenge my father! It is my last duty to him."

((even though Buddy will eventually get back to town to have the conversation with Lilly, first he has to do his duty, which he sorta hates to do, so this comes first...))

Even though he hated to think he was about to do it, Buddy reared his horse around and headed back INTO the enemy Army camp!!

Greg stopped, confused and awe-struck. "What the---?" as Buddy strode back into the camp, his rifle swaying at all the various soldiers, as he made a point to wave the silver badge on his chest for all those close-by to see. He rode up to Jericho, who was crouching behind the wagon, near the body of the drunk dead rapist.

"Geoffrey Jericho, you are under arrest for the crime of murder!!" Buddy explained out loud. "You may choose to fight it out here, amongst this garrison of troops, but I give you the choice of handling this matter according to the laws of the civilized town of New Hope versus the Law of the Land, eye-for-an-eye sort we got going on here!"

Buddy whispered harshly his true feelings, if he had a choice, he's let Jericho be gunned down by the Army, but as acting Sheriff, he had to consider the law way, the just way, and so gave Jericho the option.

Jericho checked the odds, spun the cylinder on his pistol and shucked both the hand gun and rifle into the dirt, raising his hands and stepping cautiously to Buddy's horse.

"COMMANDER GEOFFREY JERICHO, I HEREBY CLAIM YOU AS MY PRISONER! To be held for trial on the charge of murder in the first degree! All who wish to make statements for or against, or stake a claim to justice in this matter should find the judge advocate round these here parts within the coming week!

Until then, Geoffrey Jericho will be remanded to my custody and held at the New Hope city jail!"

Greg held the Army boys at bay as best he could, and luckily Leo came galloping along at that point too, to help contain the inevitable mayhem as Buddy lassoed JEricho, bound his hands and led him back to town, a prisoner...

YAY!!

OK, then Buddy, Greg and LEo get back to town, talk to Lily, start to try to explain about Sheriff Sanders murder, then Benny tells them about the Army soldier-bandits camped across town.

"What's that? More soldiers camping in the city limits?" Buddy wonders.

"Yes Sir, Sheriff Sir!" BEnny nods enthusiastically. "And they got hold of Miss Catori too!"

"That's just not true!" Jericho denied. "I RELEASED HER! And none of my men have set up camp in town!! It can't be my Army!!"

"You'll just have to come along with us and straighten this whole thing out!" Buddy decided, shackling Jericho in arm and leg irons, then locking the commander to Buddy's own belt, so he couldn't run away.
"Let's go, deputies..."

Buddy, Jericho (and Greg and Leo??) made way across town to the 'Army tent' while the kids (Lily and Benny) went on their own little adventure...

~WOW! I didn't think I would be able to bring it all back together again, after how spread out and active everything had gotten, plots going all over the place, brought back together, pretty neatly too, if I do say so!

I'm a freaking GENIUS!! and I don't care what the rest of you think!! 😛 😱 💃 ~

~Don't get cocky, something always happens when people get cocky~

~OKay, well I'm invisible as normal 😛 ~

Leo rode alongside Buddy, he kept a close eye on Jericho. He didn't trust him.

She looked pleadingly at Bart. "I...I don't know what you are talking about." she said struggling with the words greatly.

"We caught her. boss..." one of Catori's captors stepped up.

"Actually, SHE caught US!" the 'Sergeant' explained, wandering up from his post. "These idjiits were making enough racket when we acquired the uniforms, it's surprising that more folk didn't see us and start a ruckus... but we took care of it, and got outta there quick... suckered a local gunslinger too... we might even be able to use the fool, he thinks he's joining the real Army! HAHA!!"

"Fool! You talked to a GUN-SLINGER?! here, in town? and in uniform?? And this savage girl saw and heard everything??" Bart skinned his pistol in the blink of an eye and...

"Holy $hit!" one of the tent guards shouted, "The Army!!! They ARE a comin' down to the saloon! Ol' Pervis was right to shout about it!" he looked up at the roof where Matt was looking down on them...

Bart backhanded Catori hard with his fist, sending her crashing back inside the tent, and barked at the Sergeant. "Keep an eye on her! We need to find out what she knows! If she moves, kill her! We'll go deal with the Army..." About a dozen of the men started to strip from their Army uniforms back into their regular bandito outfits and hats.
"Who now! You 5, keep those uniforms on..." Bart ordered, while half the men became bandits again and stashed the uniforms in the last wagon, the others remained soldierly, and together, they all wandered down the street with Black Bart, to face the approaching Army.

This left about 4 guards in soldier dress around the tent, and the sergeant inside, with Catori...

~PS: the tent is tall enough and the pole large enough for Matt to make a good jump from the rooftop and do something heroic, if he wants...~

Catori hugged her knees and began to cry. The ackhand from the whiteman had only heightened her migrane. Everything was blurry as she looked at the sergeant through tear-filled eyes. "Please, no" she begged." she didn't know what to expect from this greaseball, ut she hoped it was nothing like she experienced earlier.

Catori reached to hold her diamond but grabbed air. It was gone! Her eyes flashed. They must have taken it! efore the soldier/sergeant could react, she had jumped him and had a knife to his throat. She quickly looked for some rope and bound his wrists.

The only thing Catori had over the slimeball was her agility.
