Folks...there seems to be a bit of confusion as to what this challenge is supposed to be about...so here are the rules once again...
"A New HP Song Challenge"1. Only 1 Song Entry Per House
2. Only 1 Prefect per house will judge
3. Each Judging Prefect will judge only the entries of the 3 other houses, meaning he/she will NOT be allowed to judge the entry from his/her own house.
4. Each entry must use the names of each of the houses ( Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Griffindor, Slytherin ) ( This means your song must include each of the 4 houses in it )
Very well said. So people, these are the rules and Prefects from each house, start deciding which of you will be judging this one.
Hufflepuff's First Entry
Come now to Hogwarts,
Where learning is such fun,
But first you need to be sorted,
Each and every one!
Chorus
You might belong in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw,
Here at Hogwarts there are four,
Four houses you needn’t more.
Hufflepuffs are just and loyal,
They are unafraid of toil,
Treating everyone the same,
They always play a fair game.
Known for their chivalry and daring,
Gryffindors are always sharing,
They are also brave at heart,
And that’s what set Gryffindors apart
Slytherin pupils are known to be sly,
They never give up and always try,
For here pure bloods all have a position,
Slytherin takes those with great ambition.
Now we come to Ravenclaw,
The last house of the four,
Ravenclaws have ready minds,
They are all one of a kind.
Chorus
You might belong in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw,
Here at Hogwarts there are four,
Four houses you needn’t more.

GRYFFINDOR ENTRY:
Atmosphere: Imagine a dark tempting feel to set the scene, a story teller e.g. like the Pied Piper, the ringleader in Pinnochio or the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - you know that kind of skinny character with an evil or secretive glint in his eye who tells a story to little kids trying to get them to join or something - Jack Scarecrow is also good. () those brackets refer to actions and background info but only apply directly to one line afterwards (there to give you a better visual) and words-written-like-this basically means you say one word directly after the other like they were seperate syllables rather then words - so anyway - he's the story teller (N for singing Narrator):
N:
Whether you be a wizard, or whether you be a witch
come to Hogwarts hither, where we catch the golden snitch
we're all welcome here, no lie nor sneer
come try today, we'll see you play
(yells) or who you cheer in Quid-ittch!
(hushed voice and points at a little girl)
Come come my dear, come a little closer
to where the Sorting Hat can hear
For once you come, all-will-be-made-more-clear
And if you ask the Sorting Hat
For a little, small, o chat
You will see how smart it speaks with art
(yells and gestures) At where you belong in here!
(Children yell in unison: )
But what did the Sorting Hat say!?!?
(N with a sneaky grin: )
What did it say!?!? Why I'll tell you what it saaaid... (Big breath)
(singing again)
only the brave, daring and great
Hear the lion's roar
So count yourself lucky, hope and pray
to be a Gryf-fin-dor!
Wiser then the Sly-the-rins
those silly dumb-witted fools,
none smarter then the Raven
But Gryf-fin-dor still rules!
Next come those giggly Huffle-puffs!
Oh so shy and innocent
that pronouncing them bor-ing
would be an under-statement
(claps) So!
Only the daring, brave and great
Hear the lion's roar
So count yourself lucky, hope-and-pray
to be a Gryf-fin-dor!
Hey! (claps and speeds up)
The wisest eagle has no wings
A drunken badger only sings
The crying serpent has his fools
But only Gryf-findor still rules!
(Children laughing and happy: )
Was what the Sorting Hat sang true?
(N screaches and shouts: )
Was it TRUE!?!?
OF COURSE IT WAS TRUE!!!
(children shaking in their boots while he sweeps over them and continues)
(whispering)
and now I'll tell you, my little dears, a story of a little boy who went to Hogwarts too...
(sings again)
At Oliver ‘s I bought a wand,
For great deeds he said to me.
You will learn how to use it and command,
Many things will change! You'll see!
The boy-who-lived and You –Know- Who
Both of them, had one too.
So the story went for long and long
As I’m telling you, this not-so-funny song!
A thousand years a-go or so
Started this whole un-lucky show.
Rawena ,Helga, Godric , and Sal-a-zar
Invented what was, to become bizzare
I learned about houses four
And I wanna be in Gryf-fin-dor!
Death Eaters are the Sly-the-rin,
and Gryf-fin-dors always win.
Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff-folks
Why mention them?
They're such a joke!
(N claps and asks: )
And what do we say kids?
(Children sing: )
I learned about houses four
And that the best is Grif-fyn-dor!
Now listen children, listen close-ly
to a sport they played, very intense-ly
The cries in the stands
so loud around the lands!
As warriors flew, around the pitch
trying to catch that golden snitch!
The quidditch match is about to start
stay with us and be a part!
Lets see which one of the four
will take the prize from Dumbledore!
Ohhhhhh!!! What's going on behind the curtains?
It's Harry and Draco, that's for certain!
Draco:
"Watch out stupid and pathetic Scarhead"
"I'll be flying so fast, you'll be left for dead!"
Harry:
"Keep wishing loser and look around"
"No cheers for you, not-a-single sound!"
Witches and wizards on a broom,
Playing Quidditch, watch them zoom!
You Know Who - Lord of the Dark
Keeps an eye on the boy with the mark...
"Watch out over there, oh Potter-boy!"
"And why should I do that, oh Mal-foy?"
"Because you-are-the-one he's going to destroy!"
"Hark, what was that? Did I hear a sound?... Oh yes I did, it's you!... About to kiss the ground!"
Harry sang vic-tor-ious-ly as Malfoy flew pre-car-ious-ly
Swaying and swerving,
Clutching and curving
until alas he could no longer skirt
OUT OF THE WAY! people cried as he hit the dirt!
(Children burst into laughter and applause)
(N claps and asks: )
Sooo, what do we say kids?
(Children sing: )
I learned about houses four
And that the best is Griffyndror!
(N slyly asks: )
and whyyy do you want to be in Gryffindor?....
(Children continue: )
Because...
(they chant)
Only the daring, brave and great
Hear the lion's roar
So count yourself lucky, hope-and-pray
To be a GRYFFINDOR!!!
(they all jump up and down laughing and cheering as the song ends and the narrator smiles)
Bogged down trying to come up with a song? It was your House's idea A.D and if I remember correctly there was alot of discussion and enthusiasm for it with plenty of time but when it came down to it it seems no one was willing to do the work. I completely understand that people have exams on and coursework deadlines right now and I myself was away for most of last week but I came back and did some editing to what the other members had done in my absence. Similarly, it probably would have been more prudent for Slytherin and Ravenclaw to do the same - while some members were away the ones that popped in could have written a line or verse or something and as time went you would have had material to work with rather then people just posting comments like - so whose got an entry? or Have we got an entry yet? Any ideas? Instead of talking about it, doing it would have been better.
For the second time now Hufflepuff were the first House to post their entry and from what I saw, it was just a few members who wrote down somethign relatively quickly in abit of spare time and the others commented on it when they came on. That's all it takes, it's not a mjaor or time consuming, the same can be said of Gryffindor who took a similar approach to Hufflepuff. We just came on, did the work, and that's it case closed without any fraffing about. Plus now that both Houses have posted their entries I think it's hardly fair for the other two to see them and plan something better with extra time but what are we suppposed to do? There is a choice, you either enter the challenge or you don't - that goes for both Ravenclaw and Slytherin - if you don't, fine, there's always next time and it's not so serious a thing that the points and stuff really matter - it's just a game on the internet but the important thing is if people put in the effort, they shouldn't have to sacrifice for those that haven't especially when we're almost all under pressure at the moment in our working/school lives - this is similar to what happened in the last challenge.
Basically, I haven't seen Tassie in a while but when Rogue comes on he can decide how long to give the two Houses to work on something and post it but I really don't want to see this becoming a habit.
