i think the first one is the best, just because its nowhere near as predictable
from watching this show all the damn time like i do (i watched all 5 seasons in 3 months and now im caught up w/ the current season) then you catch on to whats going on, to who the mole in the government is, to who is gonna do what.
and i also do think it has alot to do w/ the characters. I hated season 4 for the first 4 episodes, just because Jack was screwwin around w/ some other chick and there were so many ppl i didnt know, and then i got really pissed when i saw the new CTU(which im okay with now)
i did hear (from reading forums) that in the last episode, someone important is going to pull up to jack while he is in the middle of a gunfight and open the door and say either "my lips are very chapped" or "we have some talking to do"
i dont know who that could be if its even true, but its something to think about.
i dont believe the "Tony is still alive!" crap, but that would certainly be interesting wouldnt it?
I would like Tony to be alive, he was one of my favorite characters. Hopefully if they bring him back is with a reasonable explanation. Im hoping Audrey gets killed soon, I cant stand her character. The White House crap is getting old already. I hope they change the setting for the next season because is getting too predictable.

Question: So, we've had rumors of 24 leaving L.A. for the last two seasons. What's different this time?—
Ausiello: Well, for starters, the show is in desperate need of a facelift — and Kiefer Sutherland knows it. "I'd like to see a huge departure [next season]," he says in the new, finale-themed issue of TV Guide. "We go back and forth from the White House and CTU to the field, but I'd like to see that change up. I'd like to see Jack work in the outside world."
Maybe, not a war...but something to do with the Russians maybe? Or Chinese?
The story has a chance to follow that idea with the Russians almost attacking the States, or the Chinese in the process of attacking.
What could happen is that the Chinese actually accomplish thier goal, alot of the main characters die, then the States retaliating with something else.
Kinda of goes with the whole reinventing the theme behind 24, that the last episode is suppose to be crazy and Chloe, Bill, Milo, Audrey and a couple of others have been on for a very long time and it seems that the producers like to kill off major characters after being on the show for more than two seasons.
Or, they could just do another terrorist plot to blow LA, (or San Fran)...boring.
