jennifer garner plays an okay elektra, i really think they could've chosen someone better, imo she's a pretty crappy actor and horrible in wires and fight scenes, but who knows she could change all that in this movie, i was hoping for a grittier director to take the helm, approach it like a hardcore movie and almost no wire-work with great fight scenes, that would've definitely been something crazy, either way i'll probably check this movie out once its released
IMO i think elektra is getting a bad rap because of jens performance in dd. i'm as much a fan of comic elektra as anyone and i think jenn was passable but nothing special. i dont believe she's capable of being dark enough. ive watched most of alias and thats just what i think.
i know you guys won't agree with me, but thats what i think 😄
It's become almost bad taste in recent decades to show any sort of pride in heritage or "race". "Greek looking?" It's like a sacrilegious comment, Greeks are "white", cast anyone you want! There used to be festivals and parties for pride of one's heritage. I've listened to my elders talk of the parties in Baltimore, one week it's the Italians, then the Greeks, Poles, Irish etc. who celebrate and re invoke that old fashioned flava. Now the American Melting Pot has just blended everyone into passe mush. Somehow society has made people feel bad for simply being what they are, when Saint Patty's day rolls around, I can't be a happy American-Mick without feelings some nonsensical pang of guilt. However, it seems to be mostly facets of "white culture" let the african-americans, latino's and indians celebrate all they want because they have it due them, and the color of one's skin is all that matters, not individual family history. It's quite sad.
So, I think that's why Garner was cast. I have no problems with her as an actress, but as mentioned, she's not exactly "greek looking", but they can't cast an appropriately "greek looking" woman without having it be some sort of effrontery towards our neat little oversensitized (yet at teh same time, paradoxically desensitized) racial boarders.
I've always believed when a movie character is played, and that role has a precedent (a book, a comic) is not a matter of race when is not casted properly (Kingpin, Catwoman, etc) is a matter of staying true to the original.
And Jennifer Garner might not be the Elektra we see in comics, but I liked her in DD.
i dont question if she's greek looking or not, i mean the only difference would be black hair, she looks like she could play the character well in her own movie, i just didnt like her acting (fight scenes, wire-effects) in DD, i was just hoping for a grittier look at her, kind of like what chris nolan is doing with batman or what alot of comic books did overtime
anyway, ill probably watch this movie once it hits, is there a game follow-up?

me too

if the movie does well i'd expect it. there was meant to be a dd game but it was shelved when the movie didn't do as well as they expected.
