Hi there, I know a lot of people are pissed off about the changes in the game.I've read the reviews about the NGE,its issues, etc. Recently I've bought the starter kit and I was hooked, in a couple of days I've become a level 14 commando(I've chosen that profession in respect for the veteran players who played a lot to become jedi.)Now I'm at the point of choosing between the rebels or the empire. If you love Star Wars and are new to mmogs' (like me) you should give it a try.
Peace people...
Hmm, Galaxy's figures have always been a fraction of WoW's, and the latest releases have been absolutely panned criticially.
Difficult to see it ever becoming that popular. The debate still rages about whether it will survive, so I doubt this is the time to predict it will be the most popular western MMORPG.

I have seen some critics moan about the NGE but there's also been a lot of great feedback around.
People seem to be coming back in flocks in my server and I meet new players everyday (I sponsor them 50,000 credits of course 😄) and generally the atmostphere seems a lot less competitive than it used to be.
It seems almost a stern certainty that SWG will not die now. Of course there's always strange variables that might apprehend it but if it carries on SWG will be up there again for sure.
Up there? Swg has never been a very successful mmo, even in it's heyday during pre-cu, it had a difficult, complex but rewarding system that was not for everyone. The most subscribers the game ever had at one time was around 230-280k, now with one million sold, it's clear the game wasn't for everyone.
The last few days I was on my server it was completely empty, around 10-15 people in the main cities at peak times, the last night before the NGE there must have been over 80 people PvP'ing around the galaxy.
"Some" critics? Haha, just like the first cu, 90% did not want these changes, you're talking like a SOE employee.
Competitiveness is what made the game fun, I mean, if there is none... whats the point? People used to like being the best crafter, or the best pvper, or have the most money/loot etc...
I can't see how the game could possibly go for another year, there are rumors that the licence will not be renewed... only rumors thought.. I'd make a guess and say that less than 40k people are playing/subscribed... ever wondered why SOE don't release that info...
SWG is dying a slow and painful death... has been ever since the "Combat Upgrade".
I hope that they try and revive the game by bringing back the pre-cu system, it was one of the best games I've ever played.
These will be short because I am trying to play the game also.

SWG has been up there. Sorry that is not debatable, just accept that it has.

There were obviously trying to avoid you 😄
Last night in fact me, my Imperial guild and three others joined together to hunt down the rebels, that's 124 that turned up. We tracked the rebels but they ambushed us at there outpost.😕

I didn't want these changes and nor did other players but in hindsight I'm happy with what they have done (and so are other players). Critics and players are different things there mate. Alot of the big magazines and sites had mized opinions, yet dedicated fan bases (unofficial I might add) praised the improvements.
I will still be happy with these changes aslong as things keep improving and old content is restored to the game.

Still a lot of fun to be outside of the crafting profession. That has been sourly mistreated by the NGE.

No I didn't but if things keep going the way they are then it will. I

I think your branding NGE as the wrong thing, it isn't maiming the game like CU ever did. Yes, a lot has been lost, and woe to all the ex-creature handlers running about now, but NGE has managed to place SWG on the right plane again.
And I, as quite a few others, think that pre-CU was horrible, better than post CU, but still a horrid misintepretation of a "fun" game.
Guys, I'm back again with another question. Are the Pre-paid Game cards worth it for Galaxies? Basically I got a few of the requirements:
Minimum: Intel PIII 933 Mhz or AMD Athlon 900 Mhz; Recommended: Intel P4 1.5+ Ghz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
Minimum: 256 MB RAM; Recommended: 512 MB RAM
100% DirectX 9.0 compatible computer
Required: 32 MB 3D Graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T & L) Capability; Recommended: 64 MB 3D Graphics card with Vertex Shader and Pixel Shader (VS/PS) Capability
PCI, USB or Onboard Audio Device
Quad Speed CD-ROM drive or better
56K modem or faster Internet connection
I'm not buying anything rigth now. Just doing some research. 😕
p.m. is the Total Experience package better than the Starter Kit?
Amazon sells it for $40. Worth it or not?
Sorry, I really can't respond to that. Too much computer lingo and plus i never bought the Starter Kit. I bought the total Experience for £15 which was an amazingly deal.
And i've never used pre-paid game cards although i hear from friends they are practically just cards you exchange for money to use on the game, like phone top up cards.
Hi, I you don't have a credit card or don't want SOE billing your credit card(like me)use a prepaid card, they buy you playing time(two months),they're not cards you exchange for money to use on the game.
I have the starter kit and the only advantage it has it's "the instant travel vehicle"you don't have to pay to travel to the different space/shuttle ports on the same planet, and has one free month,(on new accounts),but requires your credit card info or a game card.On the other hand, the Total Experience has the Rage of the Wookies expansion.
If you're interested in the game, go for the Total Experience version.
Exanda, in what galaxy(server)you are? I'm on Kettemoor.
