For me, I'd like to believe in the supernatural world. But I'm also fairly sceptic and in need of true proof, and for that I won't even believe my own two eyes easily...
I had read alot about ghosts dough, and some reports are scarily plausible, leaving my mind open for accepting the possibility of their existence.
On the other hand, I recently came across a scientific report in which ultrasound is connected to hallucinations, as well as physical and emotional reactions. It seems that sound around 18 hertz causes the brain to over-produce certain chemicals and hormones, leading to hyperventilation, sweat, increased heartbeat and more. On top of that, she same soundwave sets the eyeballs to vibrate, disfiguring ones vision.
This research has led to 'solving' quite a few hauntings.
But then again, this will only explain a certain part of ghost stories, which actually relieves me. For I'd still to keep the possibility of their existence open for me... I'm quite interested in the subject as I find the human mind and nature far too complex to be written of as just carbon and electrons, they must be capable of far more then what whe are aware of, even after death.
Does anybody here had 'real ghost encounters' by the way? And sorry, might missed some as I ran to quickly though this tread. Tell me anyhow please.

Well, that not even it! As I said, the mind can be influenced by all sorts of factors, making your senses actually not trustworthy sources of information, like in the hyper-sound explanation. So even if I would truly see something as a ghost, I could'nt say if it was real. Sure, for the moment it would freak me out, but as I'll get my thoughts together, I'd concider the alternatives.
I haven't read this whole tread yet, so forgive me if I double up information... But a theory that should be reconed on this topic should be the minds of the 'common' living people. One that involves the magic discussions going on here as well.
By some (doubtful or not) scientists it's said that the human race is, by average, currently is only using 10% of the brains true capacity. Those who, even unaware, are able to put more than that 10% to work might be capable of some amazing things. Like telepathy and abilities referred to magic and such.
For example, the phenomenon known as a Poltergeist happens in just about all cases around a teenager in his/hers puberty, a stadium in which the body and brain go though changes and work overtime (and making just some more than that 10% of brainpower accessible?).
The capability of harvesting more of the minds possibilities can maybe explain magic. Which I think is the ability to steer and bend powers that already exist around us, and when this is mastered somehow, can lead to planned and amazing results. I therefore also think magic can't be put to work by just using spells and items, it's the mind that has to be powerful enough (actually, less restricted than the average brain).
Again, I am not saying if truly am a believer of all this, but I am open for it, I'm just not fully convinced yet.
I do have informed myself on the topic of ghosts quite alot, for I surely don't want to get in discussions about something I don't know about.
Okay, let's for now say ghosts are real. Supernatural or not, they still will in someway be within some rules of physics, for that will explain alot. They must exist out of some form of energy, as this is everlasting. This probably will be in the electromagnetic spectrum, for this explains the influence they can have on matter and humans (feeling them, not getting past). To maintain their for they must draw energy from their surroundings, as energy works like a gas, it's wants to spread out trough all available channels, but it can be blocked. Therefor most ghost stories include 'the feel of a cold spot', as the ghosts draws warmth to it self to maintain it form. This is probably a natural effect, or they would be able to commit suicide, even after death. This also explains the orbs of light, being not the ghosts themselves, but the energy they drain from their environment.
Why they exist, that remains the true question, theories all around, but still...
As I said, I'm just quoting what other 'experts' thought of, but in case they are real, I find this plausible. There are some real stupid explanations going around as well. Please believe what your own mind feels anyhow...
For the ghosts-photo's, yeah some are freaky, but I know photoshop and can put any of those together on a Sunday afternoon. Never believe your eyes, the are fooled the easiest.

Thanks alot! This reassures me this is still a tread worth visiting, as there are visitors around willing to discuss these things seriously. After all, whether you believe in the supernatural or not, it is still a topic that is embedded in human history all over the planet and therefor a most worthy subject to exchange ideas about. For now, I'm checking out ways to detect the presence of ghosts, something the true believers might find interesting. That is , if they have not witnessed one themselves and are by that all ready fully convinced of their existance. I would like to reffer to my previous writings then first, before you get fully assured that ghosts are real. Remember, I am am not in denial, I just wage all options.
I am soon to get my self more educated about demons, which I now find a whole different and further to believe topic then ghosts. But anything serious I might encounter will swiftly be shared with you here.
What I know so far, do not mess with ouija-bords, they seem not to be the hot line to which ever dead person you wish to speak with, but more a gateway to anything willing to get trough. And remember, bad guys get first in line. I am a still a sceptic, but just on the edge of it.

Ka-ching! Seems the theory of ghosts still existing out of 'normal' energy would make detection possible.
Sadly, this will take a ghosthunter quite some shopping hours to get the required gadgets, not to mention a shitload of cash.
Never the less, here are some ideas. First of course the supposed haunted area needs to be checked for other explanations. Check for power-lines, broadcast systems, and of course all sources of sound (even stuff like airco's, trains, mechanics).
Required equipment to attempt detection I came across were infrared thermometers, electromagnetic scanners, sound-recorders covering as much of the spectrum as possible, motion detectors, infrared video and photocamera's. Bring mucho batteries for everything, as the ghosts might be able to drain them for energy as I quoted before. Use oillamps and candles for light. Bring telephones and naturally some more people, as well as first aid kits (stumbling in the dark as explained later).
With these, all objects that are found in the pre-check should be analyzed for the various outputs, and all of this must be recorded.
Then the hunt is on for anomalies on the scene, which after a process of eliminating options, might be the ghosts.
To get the best chance, swarm the ground with scanners. This will work faster and it can indicate if the anomaly is mobile (good hint to a ghost I'd say).
The trick seems to be to scan as much as possible with the infrared and electromagnetic scanners, and start filming areas with negative/positive readouts using the infrared film (this must therefor be done at night and with as little light around as possible). Also make sound-recordings.
Meanwhile, be very quiet and respectful.
Motion detectors and sound-recorders placed around can give hints to ´activity´, fastening the search.
If you get ´lucky´, all recordings then must be compared to the recordings off all known sources of disturbance. Of course go take a look at what ever the camera´s got.
Yet again, after this whole process, you might only be able to conclude that there is something unknown around there, but unless the film shows something really freaky, a ghost?
It never hurts to be superstitious on this so use protective circles to stand in (actually something to focus the will on to fend of ghosts). And a little salt in the rightpocket eases the mind too I've read some were.
Then naturally the don't try this at home conclusion, these are just theories and findings by claimed experts on a questionable plain.

Once at my old house before the 2nd world war this boy and his friends were playing with his fathers shot gun and they diddn't no it was loaded and he shot the other boy. He lived at my house and he used 2 sleep in my little sisters bedroom. 1 night i was readin in my room and my little sister was talking to some1 in her room. Then my mum came up the stairs asking y i was talkin 2 her and she looked in her room and all her toys were on the floor. But the weird thing is that mum had cleaned it that night and my sister was in her cott so she couldn't of done it weird...oh btw this happend way b4 i was alive lol just read it through and it sounds like i was there wen it happned lol 😛
