I can't believe the Halos have fallen behind in West! I love the Angels but for them falling behind is atrocious! How can a team that at one time had the most wins in the AL West this season have taken sucha a fall? Most of the team is healthy (except for Glaus) and they look good on paper, but they can't seem to take that into the field. Something is very unbalance with this ballclub. Either Sciosia or Bud Black need to get more strick on the players or else this will be another bad season. There has been rumors that Arte has been talking to Randy about coming to the Halos. Since Arte is very familiar with the Dbacks organization is very possible something might happen. Randy can still pitch for another 2 years so I don't see any reasons why he should retire too soon. I wonder if he will end his career with a AL team.
I see that your ared issatisfied with the Angels' performance of late, so I want to offer a defense or two to make you feel better. #1. Interleague play is partly to blame-it's more difficult to face a team you may face only once or twice a decade. # 2. Reintegrating all the players on the DL into the active rosters is always a m-effer. 3 And #3. Oakland, Anaheim and Texas are so competitive--I won't even mention the Mariners in the same group as the above. If, at the start of July, you're down by 12 games or more, then screw you. You don't deserve to be mentioned with the true contenders. I'm not saying the M's can't make up 12 games, because I've seen them do it in the span of a month. I'm saying that it isn't bloody likely--especially the way the they're being mismanaged and disassembled.
Oh, yes--back to Anaheim. The ALwest is so tight, and there's alot of great ball being played--so don't worry about your guys...they'll get it together. The last 2 or 3 years the Halos are my biggest "respected foe" in the west, replacing Oakland, whom I feared greatly until the end of 2001. But, the way the A's are pitching--especially Mulder, we all have cause for concern.
