"But don't you think the matter of how he died is strange. Your people normaly handle these matters in a more subtle way no?"

"Of course I deplore such violence on our peaceful world of trade," says the bartender. "But then that Neimodian was dealing with matters of an obscure nature... which I did warn him about."

"Care to elaborate on those matters?"

"Only in that he knew the danger of what he was doing," says the Bartender. "That's why he charged so much. Obviously he wasn't up for it,"

"And what was he doing?"

"Why, what all good PIs do, especially ones at that price... he was here asking questions."

"Who was he asking questions, and what was he asking. I know enough Bartenders to know they always pick up exactly what you don't want them to pick up"

"A good bartander is part host, part psychologist... and part psychic," says the bartender with a smile.

"This is an exclusive bar. High ranking corporate executives drink here. He was following up a land development deal that the Viceroy's cousin was pursuing before his untimely death; he thought it was related. Two of the people from the corportaiton responsible for buying the land were here, he wanted to talk to them. They wouldn't talk so he asked me what I knew as well. He asked many questions, which was sensible as his cotnract allowed him to charge per question, and suited me as well because I could take a 25% cut for each answer I gave. Luckily I got a receipt, so even though he is dead, the Viceroy still owes me that money."

"how much is it?"

"About 20000 credits all told but that's not really relevant..."

"can you tell me what you told him?"

"Heh... not much, because I have made it my business not to know enough to get mySELF killed. Only that I know where the development deal was being done- on the site of a factory in the industrial distrct."

"did the deal go through?"

"It's still being handled. I have no idea if it was important enough to kill the Viceroy's Cousin, or even the PI< over, but the dead PI thought it was."

"who does that piece of land belong to now?"

"The Trade Federation."

"and who wanted to buy it again?"

"Some development consortium. That really wasn't important though; it was the reason the factory land was up for sale in the first place that interested the PI."

The bartender smiles.

"Enjoy your drink..."

"Well enough to know I have you to thank for having quick senses and sharp eyes, Padawan," Kellan replied. "I also commend you on helping protect the Viceroy, as difficult an assignment as it has been for you."

"He didn't seem at all worried about you, Master," says Jeb. "Nor did he care that you had saved his life."
