"Then perhaps you have a list of freighters that will be going through this sector carrying valuables ?"

Ah ok. The ship's staying home.

"What makes you think I have a list of all flights in this sector?" asks Marios. "About 98% of it is private traffic."

I assumed there would be something similar to a customs office..

When they arrive, yeah. Though frankly, even that is a shambles- immigration and border control is a joke in the Republic, and the further out you get, the less you get.

Densk turned away and sat somewhere else. he wasn't in the mood to plan or strategize. He wasn't in the order so it's not his responsibilty. Just tell him who to kill and he'd do it. Other wise he wasn'tin he mood for serious thinking.

"How do the pirates know what ships to hit then ? do they simply scan them ? "

"Yes, they are opportunists. They interdict the hyperspace lanes, and if they see something useful in what they have pulled out of hyperspace, they move in and take it. Else they just leave."

Ush, I'd like to know two things.. one.. how big is the sector.. could we come toghether really fast should we be separated ? and two.. how long does it take the pirates on average to take a freighter ?

My idea was, we could spread out on different freighters and maintain contact, and when one was hit, the others could make their way there asap.. perhaps using the shuttles from the freighter.. they have shuttles right ?

The sector is about a dozen star systems, so it could be awkward if you are overly dispersed. The pirates probably like to be done in less than ten minutes, precisely to avoid help arriving- after all, Marios' security people do receive distress calls.

Ok... what if we board freighters going on fairly close routes ?

You probably wouldn't even make it across between two ships in the same star system inside ten minutes.

Damn... something else then... It's just that I'm afraid we might be unlucky enough to get on a freighter that won't get attacked..

Don't worry too much about that- you have a bit of time and you can always rely on your instincts. Though any qay you can think of to improve the plan will always be helpful.

Ok..that aside... what about numbers ? How many corsairs usually board the freighters ?

Well, the survivors are normally those who buggered off very fast, so that's hard to tell, but pirates normally operate in groups of about two dozen, maybe more.

"What is your normal deployment of security for a situation such as this, Captain?" Kellan asked. "We want to move the Viceroy via the quickest and safest way possible."

"I'll have fifty men with him all the way between here and the courthouse," says Sohio. "As I say, no member of the public is coming even remotely near. There is nothing to fear."

"I hope so"

(what about snipers u guys)

Two dozen or more ? I guess we can take them.. hope they don't just blow the ship to bits if they encounter resistance..
