Yes, even though Padawans always call their trainers 'Master', and the polite term of reference for a Jedi is 'Master Jedi', Vlad, in this case certainly, view 'Master' as a rank.
"Oh, nothing important was damaged," says Ascar. "Besides which, those were only some samples.
"As for Nebb... well now, that is interesting, isn't it? It's no secret how much the Trade Federation and the Lamellans loathe each other. Terrible tragedy about Nebb's predecessor, of course."
Well, I'll just summarize. We slaughter the fanatical pirates and their droids and whatever else they have, free the prisoner if they have him, get information off of their databanks and navcomps, then tow their ship back for the authorities to examine so that they know the ships better and can recognize the pirates in space. That is, of course, if we can get a hold of the ship. If we can't, it's because we fail.
And indeed, R3-U9 is not mobile. R3 droids mainly help plot hyperspace navigation and give information to the pilot about sensor readings, incoming craft, and incoming comm messages.
"Jedi nursery? No, I should say that Vilpa and Jeb are most accomplished Padawans of Marcus and Gundark, and Vlad and I are accomplished Knights ourselves."
"I have heard some things about you, Ascar, that aren't exactly flattering. But, as I have never met you before, I will hold nothing against you."
"I am Jelena Bendu." She extends a hand to shake his.
"Well," says Ascar, "I am horrified at this dreadful propaganda that has clearly been levelled against me. I assume no-one bothered to tell you that without the aid I gave Master Gundark here, her famed mission to Zeiton would never even have occurred, let alone end in success. A fact that weighed well in my favour at trial."
He takes your hand Jelena, and smiles.
"I sense great danger for you..." He then turns back to the Masters.
"Talking of Zeiton, Master Gundark, it may interest you to know that I managed to get a copy of the report into the whole incident."
