Beatlemania and Rockmania are two different things. A high percentage of the Beatles hysteria was women who loved the way the men looked, lest we forget.
Not taking anything away coz I love The Beatles, I just think their antiquity and the fact that John Lennon was murdered is a big big big part of why they are as highly regarded as they are. Had they been around today they would not have the position they do now.
As for saying they're the most innovative band of the 20th Century, that's so incredibly untrue.

I think Beatles are great part of music history but not the most influencia-they were almost a boy band-thank god they didnt dance!
I happen to like the later days of the beatles- like the White Album - and John Lennon's single years - thats almost better than their poppy Ed Sullivan TV days - even though I would of died to have been one of those 16-17 yr old girls screaming at them in the audience
