The ending is the only downfall of the entire film, but to do the scouring of the Shire, it would have taken quite a while to put on film.

yeah the ending was different in the books (the real ending), Saruman escaped from Isengard and enslaved the hobbits in the shire you can see scenes of this in FOTR in Galandrials mirror....)

when frodo returns Saruman gets slained by his assistant Grima Wormtongue!

I highly suggest you read the books, especially the silmarillion as it wasnt a movie and is most likely never to be

I think it's my favorite of the three. I can't wait for the extended edition to come out. I have all 3 movies + both extended editions.... SOOOO many LOTR DVD's 🙂

I am in the same spot as Centinul, I have them all, I am not going to buy the trilogy as a whole for a carboard cover 😛
