The movie? This trilogy and the rumors I've heard about "Troy" are the reasons I will NEVER go to the movie theater again. It's bad enough that Hollyweird could somehow ruin the Xmen story, but "The Lord of the Rings" and the "Illyad" are treasures that shouldn't allow for artistic license. The visuals were great, but they have managed to ruin the story of "The Lord of the Rings". I hated all three movies.
Adam
eh, dude you lack in places
you cannot defy the lord of the rings movies being removed of their artistic or legendary status....just because it was a movie
the movies portrayed the scenes and people to an extent where we can reward our imaginations from reading the books and guessing what ie the grey heavens looks like
As I said, the visuals were great. I loved the way they did the creatures such as the fell beasts, nazgul, orcs, elves (though I'd say they got them backwards), trolls, etc. The places Helm's Deep, Minas Morgul, Barad Dur, Eldoras, Minas Tirith, etc are all awesome. However, they took a lot of the story out (understandable to fit it into a movie). My biggest problem is when they added and changed things. Arwen shouldn't have been in the movie hardly at all. Changing how Gandalf got Shadowfax, Making Eomer's part so small, having Eomer come to the aid of Helm's Deep when it was Erkenbrand (Eomer was one of the heroes on the inside), cutting out the barrow downs so noone knows why it's possible for Merry to wound the Witch King of Angmar, etc They left out a lot of important things. They also changed a lot of important things. What upsets me the most about the whole thing is now there are people who are self proclaimed experts on ME, and they've never read the books. Every time I watch the movies I get more and more upset.

Good points there Adam, I see where you are coming from man. Some points would be bunged into the EE editions
I totally agree with you on the part of wounding the witchking with the blade merry got.
I don't claim to be an expert on middle earth or arda or anything but I have to say I do have some great knowledge on the subject and have read the books....but I still enjoyed the films very much
The books didnt give me such a tingle, such an excitement as the books did.
