What Is The Meaning Of Life?

I believe in God, and so I believe there's almost certainly an ultimate purpose to life. What that is, I don't know, but I don't believe a God would create us, the universe, etc., without purpose in mind.

If you're an atheist, then the answer is nothing. Atheism logically entails nihilism. From an atheistic point of view, any sense of purpose or meaning is nothing more than your brain chemistry deluding you for survival purposes. It's all a delusion. Very few atheists have the courage to accept this logical conclusion, but it is what it is.

No kid, Atheism does not entail nihilism.Lol

You could always be existentialist.

Purpose and meaning are not synonymous. Your argument is invalid.

That doesn't really address his argument.

What is the meaning of life for someone who believes we have popped up here completely by chance, and that our only evolutionary purpose is to survive and procreate?

Whatever significance they find.

I'm not even a Atheist and I found that kid's argument to be laughable as well.

Always found it odd the religious people who feel they need to shit and put down the non religious in order to feel validated in their own beliefs. Imo, if what you believe can't stand on it's own; without a foundation of Atheist you've crushed underfoot in your imagination, you've failed at religion.

Robbie is a Leftist Progressive. His "Religion" is his "Politics".

A sad and empty thing to put ones faith in.

😂

To be fair though, it works both ways.

I've seen Atheists complain that people who only do good for their religion or for God's reward are selfish. Whilst an Atheist's good deeds are far more pure.

It's an interesting discussion to have though.

I don't adhere to any given religion, imo, they're all man-made systems with zero divine intervention, though that doesn't make them useless either. But I do believe there's a god/greater power. At least the chance for is FAR greater than not.

I don't think the stars, planets, life etc and the workings of such is all just random chance. I don't pretend to know what god exactly is or wants (if anything) from us. So I guess some kind of deist-agnostic?

If you're going to ask why I hold these beliefs. Answer: It's what I choose to believe as it makes the most sense/logic to me

Fur sure.

I have too, but far fewer. eg I don't ever have Atheist coming to my door selling me a not-belief in god. While I've had so many religious queries I finally had to put up a "no solicitations or religious queries please" on my door.

Fair enough, if I ever lost faith in my perspective of Christianity I'd probably be much the same way.

Well yeah Atheists don't tend to go door to door to convert people Lol

Oh yes they do.

Some Atheists are just as aggressive in their stances Fly but I've never heard of people going door to door asking if they've read the Book of Dawkins or the Gospel of Harris or whatever

They do go door to door, it is just when they get there it is more likely they put up a notice telling the person on the other side of the door that they can no longer be allowed to follow in their beliefs.

What is that gibberish? Lol

If you can't understand what you say how do you expect anyone else to explain it to you?

This, in a sense, summarizes all other questions asked. It is usually understood as: "What are the highest values, the Supreme Goals which I should try to achieve?". We stress that every human being must freely set those goals for himself or herself. The Supreme Goal which we choose derives logically from our cybernetic world view: to make a constructive contribution to the evolution of humanity, in order to maximize our long-term chances of survival (immortality). In essence, the 'meaning of life' is to increase evolutionary fitness. Do you agree?

No. I don't agree. Outside of a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ life doesn't make sense, let alone have meaning.

Death was not God's original plan. It's the effect of sin. You and the rest of the world were created to have a great, face-to-face relationship with our Creator.
