What books have been banned?

Catcher in the Rye is the only one I know of, and its because of the languge thats in it. . . which really just adds to the book in my opinion

Catcher in the Rye was a great book it was one of the books that got me really into reading i loved it so much and when i had to read it in 12 grade it was even better....till we started discussing the book as a class and everyone insisted Holden was GAY man that pissed me off i hate it when i have to hear other people tell me what the authors meaning was in parts of a book.

Every parents group or religious organisation that trys to ban a book should have no credit with the people and no one should ever lesion to what they say again

Mech's random hint for the day: -

Bill Golding's "Lord of the Flies" is must-read for anyone who likes reading.

HElll YESSSS.
LORD OF THE FLIES WAS SO GREAT

that book gave me nightmares

Mein Kampf was banned for a while.

It's PC gone mad, it really is. 🙄

OMG, this is hilarious (from BK's link)

"A Light in the Attic. Shel Silverstein. Harper. Challenged at the Cunningham Elementary School in Beloit, Wis. (1985) because the book 'enourages children to break dishes so they won't have to dry them.' Removed from Minot, N.Dak. Public School libraries when the superintendent found 'suggestive illustrations.' Challenged at the Big Bend Elementary School library in Mukwonago, Wis. (1986) because some of Silverstein's poems [bull]'glorified Satan, suicide and cannibalism, and also encouraged children to be disobedient.'"[/bull]

😆

This is the poem it's talking about, btw:

How Not To Have To Dry The Dishes

If you have to dry the dishes
(such an awful, boring chore)
If you have to dry the dishes
('stead of going to the store)
If you have to dry the dishes
And you drop one on the floor--
Maybe they won't let you
Dry the dishes anymore.

lol!! thats great! roflmao

To limit the press is to insult a nation; to prohibit reading of certain books is to declare the inhabitants to be either fools or slaves.

Harry Potter's been banned?? Where?
Islamic countries have banned it because of Magic.

Islamic countries are quick to criticize, I take it.

They should ban harry potter for being stupid

Golden Lotus. It was written in the Ming Dynasty and although it was banned for the erotic subject matter, it was extremely popular, even with high officials.
