Broly was also the original intended super Saiyan that was shown when talking about "the legend of the Super Saiyan".

Akira Toriyama wanted a movie based on him.

If you are gonna come in, negate my entire post by saying one thing and it is "

"Broly isn't canon."

He still exists in the DBZ universe and is canon enough.

Point moot.

No, he exists in his own stand - alone movie universe, which Toriyama called 'an alternate universe'.

If we're talking canon, then Goku was the first SSJ1 in a thousand years.

That's true, but Brolly is more interesting as a character IMO. And Ashtar, I said only DBZ or a super robot could beat Anubis. Ideon is so a super robot. 😛

Actually Vegeta mentioned something of the Legendary Super Saiyan in the Frieza saga, Goku was the 1st to do it in thousands of years.

Exactly and it showed the obvious outline of Broly. Broly was canon to begin with and the movies expanded on it.

What?

No it wasn't. The flashback showed a Saiya-jin in Oozaru form, which Brolly never used. Brolly never appeared or was mentioned in the canon manga, or even the anime.

Besides, the SSJ referred to as the last one was a thousand years ago, Brolly was born way after that, so they couldn't have been the same.

Still, Goku wasnt the first to go SSJ

The stipulations for turning into a ssj were never explained at all. It appeared as some random plot device that allowed the saiyans to get ahead of everyone.

😕 How does that make it good?

I admitt, I love the movies. But, the series blows, I can only watch so much of that crap.

Well just look at it. Dragonball Z had all the things you mentioned, and it was a great, but GT didnt, and it kinda blew. GT was mostly fighting, which is something I thought would have made Dragonball Z better, until I saw GT. It lacked any kind of excitement at all, except the Super Android 13 saga, but that was way too short.

DBZ > GT

DBZ > GT

Look you guy's obviously love DBZ, I'm not trying to change that. My point is, what makes it a good anime, none of the reasons you listed tells me what. Your just telling me vague things that were entertaining when you watched the series. There's nothing wrong with you loving DBZ,I could care less. But, basicallly your telling me it's a great anime because you liked it, rather than telling me objectively it's merits as an anime.

A random powerful antagonist appears out of NOWHERE and the Z senshi proceed to fight and lose. They go into hiding (Perferably, kami's tower) to muster up whatever plot device they can find. Then proceed to fight said antagonist, just when things are looking good the antagonist pulls out his plot device for whatever reason and defeats the Z senshi. the Z senshi than proceed bakc into hiding, rense and reapeat. They go back and fourth doing this until someone performs an attack that they should have done in the first place. throw in some random moments where the humans get jobbed, the end. [/B]

You listed off a reason why you didnt like it(above). But its ironic, those statements above are what actually makes me enjoy the series.

That's not what I'm asking though, I asked what makes the series good. Not why you like it, big difference.

What are you expecting?

There isnt any universal reason as to why this series is good. People have there own reasons.

I think that Ayato Kamina out of the last episodes over RahXephon(after he's merged with the rahxephon) could beat Anubis...

No, people pick what they like about it, I'm not asking what you like about it. I'm asking what it has that makes it's good anime. Just because you like you it doesn't mean it has any merit, and vice versa.

And just because you have your opinions about what makes a good anime doesn't make it right.

You can't say list reasons why its a good anime. There IS no one reason. Its relative. You saying provide proof that its a good anime is like saying asking someone to give proof as to why Blue is a great color. What makes an anime a good anime is if it's liked by someone. One person may dislike dragon ball but like love hina, whiel another eprson has opposiet feelings. There both good anime to that person.

Just because you personally think that DBZ doesn't have anything that doesn't make it a good anime, doesn't mean its not good at all. Its just not good to you.

I can say Dragon Ball sucks ass because it doesn't have people spammmign energy beams at each other, which (In terms of this example) I prefer over H2H, it also has an okay plot. I dont like plot, I prefer more killing, less talking.

Does Dragon Ball suck because it doesn't have the elemts that I prefer?

I'm only going to respond to Avenger. Oh yeah, I'll give you that one with ease. Not only was Rahxephon (Or Shinsei Ayato, as that form is called at that point), a super robot, but it was probably a god. Anubis is the strongest of the real robots, and borders super robot. But putting it against Rahxephon is suicide. Even with the aumaan shockwave, I don't think Anubis could win.

I said what are it's merits as an anime, every medium has a guide lines.

No, that example your giving is out of context, Blue is not a medium in itself, Anime is.

Just because you personally think that DBZ is a great anime, doesn't mean it holds any merit as an anime. It's called an objective analysis, disliking or liking has bearing to what I'm saying.

You miss my point again,Liking something isn't what determines it's merits. Take a book for example, I can like it, But, it completely fails in following the guidelines for litterature.

Okay then. I am sorry if I misunderstood you.

What, in your opinion, merits a good anime?

Depends on the context.
