or because people who like rap are out clubbin/dating (im not sayin that only ppl who like rap go out/clubbing...just that a majority of ppl do...i mean how often do you see the oldies liking rap.....and they dont go clubbing......)

well hey every can like whatever they want like a gothic person can like country music or a white can like reggea but like you said they have better things 2 do than argueing on the computer about music well thats there choice. Hell people that like rock can be goin to concerts. So what what i'm tryin to say is that no offense what you are saying really doesn't prove a point.

Anyways, no, those aren't the reasons. I think more people listen to rock because it's generally easier to get into. It has a melody, a beat, lyrics that aren't always about selling crack and killing "niggas' (this is mainstream rap that I'm talking about, by the way, so don't come nagging at me about some underground crap) and screwing 'hoes'. Most mainstreem rock music is generally just a better listen then mainstream rap.
How many really good mainstream rappers are there? By my count, zero. Most of them are the same, and the ones who are generally known as good, are dead.
Rock, however, has many solid mainstream bands that are not only popular, but generally well respected, even to people who only like underground music. Bands such as SOAD, TOOL, Korn, Deftones, Pantera, ect. All these bands are pretty well known, and would probably be considered mainstream. At the same time, most of these bands are well respected by most rock fans. As opposed to rap fans who themselves admit that most mainstream rap is garbage.
The bottom line, mainstream rock is generally easier to identify with, get into, and comprehend for most people then mainstream rap.
One last thing, I really love how you throw in a bunch of cliched statements that are horribly false and almost laughably ridiculous.
