In terms of the whole pop/punk/emo genre, they are probably the best band out there, which isn't saying much. I will say I can stand a couple of their songs...

they are not my favorite band out there. but they are not the worst. although some of their songs are a little random they are still relatable. and i think that is what attracted me to them. "Im Not Okay (I Promise)" is so much like most teenagers lives its crazy. well it is like my life. and honestly i think it is great how they are just so open and blunt with their music and their lifestyles!

There's nothing punk about My Chemical Romance. There aren't many bands around that are really punk anymore. Like John Lydon said, before it was a genre it was a lifestyle. Punk meant something to survive through, it wasn't a good thing to be. Now it's being tagged to My Chemical Romance.

Jimmy Eat World, one of the original emo bands, are still around. They're better than My Chemical Romance. Finch, if you count them, are better (I thought their first album was not good, and that was emo. Their newer one is completely different. I was reluctant, but it IS good).

I was dragged along to their concert in Reno a week or so ago. Horrible. But of course I had to pretend to like it 😉

MCR are awesome! They are not cookie cutter boy band music! 😠 they actually have talent!

Real bands that are good...like Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Audioslave, Opeth, etc....ie bands with actual talent that aren't popular because girls think they're hot. Bands that aren't the current flavor of the week and that'll be forgotten in a few years.

but I gotta admit Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave are pretty decent

Audioslave are excellent and Rage are one of the best bands ever.

There's nothing "pretty decent" about it.

MCR are flavour of the week, it's just a really long week.

Lana, I wouldn't go so far as to say Incubus aren't popular because girls like them. Especially not now Brandon decided to become a Gap model. The band are talented, of course. But there's always been an element of that to Incubus.

Sometimes, but not all the time. Alot of it is reversed if you've ever been to their concerts.

Well, for the most part, I don't even know what most of the people in bands I like look like 😮 I've liked Incubus since I was about 12-13, came across a picture of Brandon Boyd in a magazine, thought he was hot, then realized that he was the singer of Incubus. Yeah, I've had a crush on him ever since, but he's not he reason I like them 😛

Oh, AC, speaking of Brandon being a Gap model, you should have heard the fit my friend Moira threw over that....

I certainly lost all respect I had for the man. I mean, I respect the fact that a lot of women like him, but a lot of women like Maynard. You're not gonna see Maynard pushing Levis anytime soon. He made the wrong choice, his choice sure. But the wrong one.

You mean to tell me there's JUST music fans at Incubus concerts? The crowd were pathetic at the Incubus gig I went to. Sustained screaming, I actually had a girl ask me what a few of the songs were. If you like Brandon for looks, buy a poster, not a CD.
