No. Playing rock guitar makes it rock. 3 Cheers was a rock album, so is the new one. It might not be to your taste, or to mine, but it still rock music.
Playing "rock guitar" doesn't make it rock. Being rock music in general makes it rock music.
Having rock guitar doesn't make you a rock band. Many shit pop acts have guitar in that could probably be classed as "rock guitar", it's not rock music.
It has nothing to do with taste, they're a pop band.
I'm Not Ok was a pop song, so was that Helena bs.

All I have to say is- if you don't know me, don't judge me. Jesus. I don't give a damn what people think of my music preferences- it's not like I'm gonna force everyone else to listen to it. I have my reasons for thinking it's a beautiful album. End of discussion.
If you don't give a damn, why care if anyone judges anything?

I guess you consider Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson rock artist too, they have guitarist (dressed in black with eyeliner even ).
The point I'm making, more clearly, is this; there is a style of playing that is considered to be rock guitar, that doesn't make it rock music.
If playing a style meant being the genre, there'd be no such thing as hybrids.
Rage Against the Machine's music contains a lot of hip hop style beats, it doesn't mean they're a hip hop band.

would you care to educate me in what real rock music is?
TRIVIUM!!! Oh wait 😕
I'm. . .kidding. . .ok, moving on.
I feel that if music is written specifically to be popular, or is written just to meet popular demand, than it is not rock. It can have a rock sound. . .but it's not rock.
If it's rock, it has to be written for the purpose of oneself. It has to be written as a mean to get rid of pent up emotion. And when one listens to it. . .one should be able to rock away ones emotions.
Writing this. . .crap. . .so that they can be up there, and be famous and rich. . .and be on MTV all the time. . .and writing said crap only for that reason. . .no, they are not rock.
One said person is now done typing 😄

I kinda understand what you are saying. but if it was all based on emotions, it would depend on the person. when I listen to certain songs, they tend to speak to me....so based on your definition, I would call them rock...
That seems addressed more to Wind Sister than me, though I'm not sure, as you didn't quote.

Lol, yes. Ok, I'm having difficulty sorting out my own definition 😮
MCR seems to write music simply to be popular and famous.
Ok. . .ummm. "The only rule was to break the rules." That is how I look at rock. If you're only writing to be famous, and you're following trend, you're not breaking any rules.
Still not quite right. I understand what you guys are saying, and see the flaw in my way of looking at it. I get it, honestly.
