I mainly use to listen Portuguese Hip Hop, but the American hip hop i like The Last Emperor, M.O.P., Akrobatik, Masta Ace, Missy (most ppl says that her music is always the same, but i like her anyway, hehehehe 😛), Nas, Citizen Kane and those girls the Deadly Venoms. jeez... i'm terrible with names... there's some more artists but they're really missing me... i also like a few French hip hop like Fonky Family, Assassin, Mafia K'1 Fry, Arsenick (i'm not sure if it's well written) and Diam's. And some other things that i get at the Internet.
Misha, yes I don't disagree with you. But right now what sells is the pimp cliche. All the videos are almost the same thing, a night club, a nice car, some half naked women, and so on... And why they do this? Cause the public likes it and wants it. when they stop wanting it, they'll find something else... That's why is so important for them to be at the top, means they'll keep selling.
Unfortunately i know how those labels work (here in Portugal) and their tricks, and how pathetic some artists can be... saying things that they don't agree with only for selling... there's even a mc in here that doesn't even writes his own lyrics...but that's all about the money... As you can see i don't really like the most of the labels. hahahahahahha
By the way, does anybody here, knows a group called anti-pop, or something like that? someone told me that's underground hip hop, but i don't know them. are they good?
