Whoa--thank you for the very, very specific info.

Impressive.

Not exactly that amount but when a film shoots in a short amount of time it is usually around this time with a average maximum of 1 hour 40 minutes. The first X-Men film was shot in about the same amount of time and when it was released it was 1 hour 44 minutes. FF could run 1 hour 45 minutes also but editing really brings it down about 15 minutes at least.

Oh, yeah, sure...I knew THAT... 🙄

Second reason is that the budget for FF is small. Fantasy films with small budgets are most of the time very short.

Example: Alien Vs Predator 1 hour 27 minutes.

Chris Evans Talks Fantastic Four
Source: Los Angeles Daily News
Wednesday, August 25, 2004

The Los Angeles Daily News chatted with Chris Evans who stars as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four.

Evans, who has been up in Canada training for the film, says, "My character flies a lot, so I have a lot of wire work and semi-wire work, plus fight combat training and all that."

Fantastic Four will keep Chris busy shooting through January

why would they give FF a small budget?

because theyve got like a billion other movies they are making

i.e. - Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Man-Thing, X3, etc.

Not sure. But most films from 20th Century Fox don't have a budget above $140 million. FF has a budget around $70-$95 million. Very small for a film like this. 😉

Also true. If it was something like Sony Pictures then it would be at least around $150 million.

Fantastic Four Filming at UBC!

'Lisa' sent us first word on where the Fantastic Four production is today...

FF is filming right now in my building at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver!!

The set is at UBC's Liu Institute on Marine Drive... the crew has set up a fake 'forest' within the actual forest beside the building. It looks like they are filming both outside and inside the building - we can't get directly near the set, but most of the cast has been filming at night anyway.

'Russ W' has another Fantastic Four report from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver...

I was down at UBC in Vancouver today and caught some great views of the film set there. Inside the building, they've dressed up a large room to resemble a very modern restaurant and there are lots of extras walking about dressed as medical staff. I also saw the 'forest within the forest' and word has it they're here filming all week. There's also a quite large fish-looking sculpture creation sat in the courtyard - very strange!

I'm in Eastern Washington--I wish I had time to get up there and take a peek--it's been a while since I've been to Vancouver.

Yeah Vancouver is a long way from where I live in Chicago.

Fantastic Four Set Reports and Pictures

Hollywood North Report has received word on three locations being used for Fantastic Four filming in Vancouver. The descriptions are spoilers, so only read ahead if you don't mind knowing things ahead of time...

'Donald the Explorer' was kind enough to snap a few shots of a Fantastic Four set currently under construction at West Pender & Richards Streets in Downtown Vancouver. This is not the famed 'downtown Vancouver parking lot that's being turned into a garden in the heart of NYC setting' that we've been hearing about.
