Troy (2004)

Wonder how many of these chicks have seen "Black Hawk Down". There's a test of devotion if I ever saw one. (In case you don't follow, "Orli" is in it.)

I have a good feeling about troy....what I dont have a good feeling about is brad pitts acting 😘

such big fleets existed in roman times, i think all war movie now have to live up to rotk now, or the look puny,rotk set the new stage of war!!

I'm not too worried about it. This is what, the 2nd Ancient Creece Epic in 10 years? Brad Pitt is versatile, and I think he'll pull it out. He's been a Pikey, a stoner, a conman, a detective, and now, Achilles!

..and here comes the inevitable heartbreaker.

Mr. Bloom has something to prove. Small role in "Black Hawk Down", dwindling role in "LOTR", every movie, he had less screen time.

Then of course he's got "POTC", but that's just a fun movie, where he plays the background, now he's pretty much the "star" in "Troy", aside from the great Mr. O' Toole.

He'll either make his name, or he'll go the way of the Corey's.

They look epic but with Rotk it set a whole new standard for war movies. Small fights won't look that good anymore but if the battle is to big it gets confusing. I think if a battle becomes anymore bigger then Rotk it won't be very good looking. So can they live up to rotk or not!!

Really, this is just an updated version of a late 50's movie called "Helen of Troy". So, it's a "love story", for the most part.

I'm anxious to see how they stage their battles, because like you said, "LOTR" set the bar up so high, you would have to hire WETA to do your battle scenes to even get close to the epic scale of "LOTR".

Nope, and like I said in the other "Troy" thread, they shouldn't try. "Troy" is 1/2 love story, 1/2 war movie.

Nothing will touch Helm's Deep or Pellinor Fields.

no i think anything bigger then lotr will make the battle look very confusing,

lotr has sort of created a norm for epic battle scenes and i think it will be ears before it will be challenged......let the king reign in peace......

I disagree. Last Samurai came after the 1st two LOTR films and I liked its war scenes more.

the only thing missing in the battle scence in LOTR is blood

In a PG-13 or 12A film? Unlikely...

Troy is rated r but if you want to make a big battle scence rotk sets the standard by a long shot!!! people wont get that imprsses anymore!!!

the second part is a bit off....

its about the queen of sparta who left her king and went to [bloom]Paris(not the city) the son of the king of Troy.. the king of sparta then wanted her back so he went to war with troy.. she did not betray him during a war.. his brother King agamemnon of the myceneans comes to help, and he hires achiles to fight.. eric banna is Hector..
