So I save files as .png in PS and I have the transparency box checked. Then it's not transparent when I load it on to KMC. If I want a transparency, I have to save as a gif, which is fine but I'd like to have the option.

Am I doing something wrong? Or does PS/KMC/God/etc. just hate me?

Ummm...that's weird. Do transparent PNGs usually come up as transparent for you on here?

It's kinda hard to tell because I use the Light Blue template, and it ahs a white background...I can only tell that my png's aren't working when I switch to the Star Wars template (which isn't often). I'd probably need to find something transparent or somone would have to post it, then see if it works for me.

For example, the following was saved as a png-24 transparency (interlced box was checked as well)...the right-hand side should be transparent, but my guess is that you'll see white like I do.

...

Nope, it's transparent.

...

What browser do you use?

Internet Explorer. I've been told to get Firefox or something similar before...I should probably do that.

...but at least I know it's not a problem with my PS.

Yep, not a PS problem, it's a browser problem.

Use Firefox, damn you ermm 😛

I probably should.

...and I'll also probably put it off indefinitely.

...

So, on a related note, do all the judges for the competition use Firefox?

😖hifty:

...wouldn't want my transparent movie-trailer fireworks extravaganza signature getting docked points because of browser issues.

Does anyone know how to make borders in Photoshop 7?
i only know how to do it in gimp and its annoying to have to open gimp all the time when i make sigs

Borders in PS are very easy.

Create a new blank layer, hit Ctrl+A to select all, and then go to Edit > Stroke. I usually use it at 1 pixel set to center for a simple border.

Bah! Gimp is the best program ever. I only use PS because Gimp would no longer allow me to bask in its glory.

😐

...seriously, I miss the Gimp days for some reason. It's like old-school NES for me, even though I know newer concoles do more things (like PS).

Man... I've yet to even master GMP. I suck at sigs so badly... 🙁

I made a sig with animation but can't figure out how to resize it with GIMP or with CS2. How do i resize it? It's currently over 65kb and I need it under 50 for this forum.

Anyone have any good fonts to use? I end up using Century gothic on everything.

Making Wallpaper!

Hi everyone! I recently just picked up the Adobe Photoshop package, and I was thinking of making cool wallpapers with pictures I like. But I realized that I don't know how to do that at all! 😱 . Can anyone explain to me how to make a simple wallpaper using the adobe photoshop? Or list steps of how to create them using this program? I'm a huge noob in computer graphics and stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated! 😄

p.s I have a feeling that there might be another thread similar to this one, but the search engine didn't come up with anyone when i searched on it 🙁 . So if there IS a thread similar to this, just delete this thread and show me the link to that one, thx!

i want photoshop...🙁

so i don't know anything about it...

I have Photoshop CS2, but I have no idea how to use it to make a wallpaper or sig, I'm so noob that I don't even know how to create a new image at 500x500 pixels...can anyone help by giving me tips or showing me exact steps of how to use photoshop to make a wallpaper or a sig. Any help is greatly appreciated thx!!!

Really depends on what you like and the theme of the sig, there are many free fonts out there so just play around with them and see what you like and what works for the sig.

Hey guys,

I'm really stuck on why in the last year, my designs when uploaded on the web appear very washed out.... Um it was fine before (back when i first started making sigs )... I dont know how to explain it but I hope this pictures will sort of help.

THe first one is straight from my comp (Pdf. file)).... the second one exactly the same except I've uploaded it on bebo as jpg. Can u see the difference in colour, quality?? I dunno but its just not the same.... its like a lower quality version of what I spent hours to do on photoshop!

Has it got something to do with colour settings etc??? I really dont know..plz help photoshop ppl

T4

edit: oops well i just noticed i cant post the links due to me being a newbie...ok well if anyones got any idea plz do help. I could the PM the links if necessary 🙁

thanks

I have a general question that goes beyond sig-making.

I'm looking to learn some things about web design/layout, as well as design elements for regular publications. Adobe InDesign seems to be the most used software, but I don't think it's in the CS2 package I have.

I have a program called Microsoft FrontPage that seems promising for web-based stuff.

So.

1. What does Adobe Bridge do?

2. Is there any relatively cheap software I should look into getting besides Adobe InDesign?

3. Any ideas of things I can do outside of simply purchasing the programs?

...any thoughts are appreciated.
