I go to www.planetrenders.com 🙂
I like vector brushes all of the sudden. I had never DL'ed any (I like tech brushes) and today I looked at my tech stuff and was all like "bleh". So I did.
I haven't made anything close to a good sig, but I just noodled with vectors for probably 45 minutes. Good times. I created a background I can't find a use for and a neat angled cityscape silhouette.
...and after I realized I wasted all that time, I felt the need to share with someone.
Anyway, time to attempt to make something of my life....

Using Levels Effectively
In this tutorial, I hope to illustrate the best way to use Levels (ctrl+L) in your sigs.
REQUIRES:
Photoshop 4.0 or later.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL:
** (out of 5)
Let's begin.
1)You first need to take a sig you like. Preferably one with a fractal style background, but that doesn't matter. Duplicate the sig, so if you don't like it, you can always go back.
2)Click on the "Create adjustment layer" icon, and go to levels.
3)Now, select a colour from the "channels" menu. This can be either the same colour or a different colour as the current predominant colour in your sig. If it is the same, skip to step 6. If not, carry on as normal up to step 5, and then skip to step 9.
4)Play around with the sliders. The "Input levels" slider is the most fun to mest around with. The "Output levels" give really spooky effects, and may be good for a survival horror themed sig.
5)Hit OK, and enjoy!

6)Turn the grey "Input level" all the way down. If you don't like this effect, go to step 7.

7)Turn the "Input level" grey slider down about half way.
8)Choose a colour that is contrasting to your previoluos colour. Turn this slider up about halfway.
All ways do this step!
9)Now take the original predominant colour in your sig, and add a new layer of it, and set the blending to soft light.
There you have it, a cool, funky style sig.

There is. I always used to just make multiple copies of the text, then color each one differently and erase parts of each layer so that I'd get multi-colors. Some blending will be required if you don't want straight lines all over the place.
I think there's a way to overlay a gradient onto text as well, so that's a possibility.
.....
On a related note, GIMP isn't working for me and I don't feel like installing it again. But I never taught myself how to render stuff in PS....I alwyas used Gimp to cut stuff out. Is there a "Paths" tool like in gimp, or something similar, so I can make my own renders? The magnetic lasso works fine when I'm blending a bunch, but I need a more precise cut for what I'm doing right now.

😆Awesome.
You can do that by selecting what you want to have an outline, and then go to Edit > Stroke in Photoshop.
I know how I made the outside one.
I don't know how I made the inside one. I had like a background layer and cut out the size of the image and put it on the top layer then selected it and cleared it and it was just there.
I can't replicate it.
