I was being sarcastic. There should've been more to Cruises character then the yelling 😬

Well I think if you paid attention, you would have noticed that Cruises character had a lot of bad shit going down. His business was in the shitter, he lost out on the fortune that he felt he rightfully deserved, and he learned he had an autistic brother. I think he had a bit of a reason to be upset most of the time.

He wasn't just "yelling" all the time, that is simplified to the point of being silly. There are several moments in which he connects with Ray throughout the whole film. Each was more poigniant and powerful then the last.

In the end, he realized all too late, that he loved his brother and truley did want to be with him, after getting his head on straight after all the shit that happened to him, he showed he wasn't such a bad guy.

^agree

2 points in the movie-thats my point exactly the movie didnt have enough of those moments.

I agree at the end he didnt show he was the bad guy but during the whole movie I couldnt make heads or tales out of his character. All we get is Cruise yelling at him in the car,Cruise yelling at him at he airport,Cruise getting fustrated in the hotel room,Cruise useing his brother to make money, and then we get to the heart of the story.

Stormy, you've really missed what Backfire is trying to say. Moreover, you've missed the entire premise of the film.

I've remained silent for quite some time now, but you really have a lot to learn about providing a comprehensive movie review. It's been evident that you've wanted to emulate certain other members in having your own thread (I can truly see why CA did not seem to eager to have additional reviewing taking place on his thread)... and while admirable, the quality of the reviews have been substandard in quality. I believe you said earlier that you felt the movie was overhyped... I'm not sure how its reception by the public even fits into the quality of the acting, storyline, direction, etc. If you truly want to provide a quality review, dedicate more thought towards what is good/bad about each film and not what the public thinks. You mentioned something about not being able to like Cruise's character because he came off as an a-hole (I'm taking liberties here)... keep going with that. If Cruise is able to set you off that much in his role, I think the performance was a success.

This is meant as constructive criticism, so don't be getting all defensive. Again, your efforts are commendable, but are lacking. As long as you are providing 1½ reviews for movies like Kill Bill 2 and 3½ reviews for Princess Diaries 2 (or whatever the exact numbers were), you are going to be subject to ridicule by various members... so the more effort you put into the content of your review, the more people are going to give you a little more credibility. There's no problem with liking PD2 over KB2 (though that wouldn't be my choice)... just maintain some consistency in your reviewing, and back up your reasoning.

Maybe he did like The Princess Diaries II better. At least everyone knows who to go to for a review when Legally Blonde 3 comes out. 😉

PS> Well said. Nobody's saying you have to like certain movies, just that your reviews need some work.... The other thing is, being open-minded and watching anything is great, but it almost seems like you're trying to enjoy the movies you watch... Which isn't a good thing. It gives you just as biased a view as if you were trying not to like them.

I dont know what to do.PS,you say that I dont have to dislike movies because others, but it always seems like my opinion gets ridiculed all the time because of that reason.I really enjoyed PD2 better than "Rainman" and I dont think thats wrong.I dont ever force my opinion and say certain things even though other people might get mad.I always walk into a movie expecting the worst but hoping for the best and most of the time I like what I see.

"Rainman"was just a nutshell, and like I said before its not hard to act mad and angry during the film.I was didnt like Cruises character and it seemed like they where making me hate him more and more throughout the whole film and then they just expected me to like him because he started acting better at the end 😬

Ok quite a busy week movie wise coming up.This is a list that will be covered until Tuesday next week.

"Oceans 11" original

"Laws of Attraction"(I only got this one because my bro said it was good.Other than that I hate Pierce Brosnan, but Julianne Moore is an ok actress)

"LXG:The League of Extraordinary Gentleman"(got this one for free 😖 )

"Hero"-Friday

"Anacondas"-Friday

"The Passion of the Life of Christ"-Next Tuesday

"Laws of Attraction"

Synopsis- Two divorce lawyers find themselves married and that soons interferes with there case over a famous rockstars divorce and the couples settlement.

Review-Yet another film where opposites attract and the two spend most of the film arguing and they cant stand each other and then at the end are in love.Ive seen this "Opposites Attract" formula way to many times and it gets old and boring after a while.Juliane Moore plays the uptight lawyer and Pierce Brosnan plays the smart and charming laidback lawyer and you geussed it when they combine they get into fights and arguments then later Brosnan brings out her soft side that most dont see.A supposedly "romantic comedy" I cant say that I laughed once it this film.Another problem is this has been made to many times including one of the Moores previous films "Alex & Emma" which I enjoyed but thats a different review. There is also no doubt that these two will ever get together so from start to finish its just all to obvious how its going to turn out.I court case is also bad what makes me care about this stone out rocker and his wife i'd actually prefer the case in "Legally Blonde" because at least that one has twist and is at least interesting and doesnt feel like its there just to take up time.

"Laws of Attraction"-2/5

Unfortunately my computer might go back before I get to review "The Passion" and see it for the second time.So dont count on a review on Tuesday although I dont think you where 😕

I saw Hero last night on STARZ. Though the film really had nothing special to it, I couldn't stop watching it for some reason. (This is where I throw in the infamous Stormy Day "😬" smilie. Actually, Stormy, what does that smilie mean anyway? I'm not an expert on that.)

It means, "I eagerly await all of your criticism now that I have finished yet another review. Please be gentle."

LOL @ that, PS. That's funny stuff. Actually, I think you're exactly right, regardless of who uses it. It kind of looks like the expression describing, "Well, I gave it my best. Please don't crucify me!"

lol botankus 😆

I would like if you guys stoped invading the thread with this nonsense. If you would like to write a review then do so.I dont mind critisism except when its about something other than my reviews and which smilie I use.

I think of it as a shrug smilie also.

Stormy, you need to lighten up a little. Face it... you are a little generous on the smilies. I have yet to see a review by Roger Ebert or Richard Roeper that has an angry face on it whenever they review a lousy movie...

This is a public thread, it is their right to come in and post if they want too. If you don't like it, do what Cinemadiction does when it happens in his thread and simply ignore them.

"Hero"

Review-In a distant war torn land, a ruthless emperor is rising to power with an iron fist and his massive armies. To control everything, he will stop at nothing. Star Jet Li is a fearless warrior with no name on a mission of revenge for the massacre of his people.

Synoposis:What a excellent movie. This movie unlike "CTHD" gave us characters that we cared about and showed us there emotions through brilliant, well coreagraphed, and creative fight scenes that left me in awe.Jet Li sets out to kill all these assasins that turned out to be not so ruthless and twist and redemption lie ahead. The cinemtography is also beautifal and the fight scenes in the autum-like setting was breath taking sight. The Director made this film with great care and knowledge and it shows up on-screen.

"Hero"-4.5 For great fight scenes and very good cinematography and acting.

"Anacondas:The Hunt for the Blood Orchird"
Synoposis:A group of scientist set out on a ride through the Amazon in search of the Blood Orchird a plant that could revolutionize medicine but on the way they encounter anacondas.
Review:"Anacondas" is a pretty fun film and great to see with your friends. The acting and diolage is cheesy in the beginning but as the film develops it gets better so I didnt find that a problem, but one of the things I liked most are the way they made the snakes look and its so fun seeing them attacking the humans and seeing people beinging flung around by them. The movie is pretty predicatble seeing how you know when someones going to get killed but hey which suspense film isnt? And its fun seeing them get killed off.All an All a great popcorn flick and better than the first also some of the most fun ive had at the movies this summer.
"Anacondas"-3.5
